Load it up and uggggggg...The game is so dam dark you can't see shlt. I can't stand games like that, and the whole concept only reminds me of aliens vs predators. Come on!Give me a good war game along the lines of call of duty any day.Speaking of which, anyone recommend a new war game?
Drewdatrip Posted August 22, 2004 Posted August 22, 2004 NO way dood....i agree that there was alot of hype...but i tend not to listen to the BS i just play it and make my own reviews.But i raelly think the Darkness adds to the game...you cant just haul a** everywhere and blow things away...you have to sneak around and make smarter more realistic decisions about entering particular areas.In addition it adds tot he creapy aspect of the game...which must say it definatly tops the charts in that catigory...i havent play a game this freak and startiling since System Shock 2.What it comes down to me, Doom 3 is more like a remastering of DOOM and DOOM 2. I contains the same secnerios, monsters and similar set. Ie rather then the MOons of Mars, its simply on the Planet.They added alot of plot, which i think is important seeing as most games now are all eye candy...All in all i have played more addictive and better games, but for a first person shooter i think Id did well with this one |Drew|

I always hated DOOM and thought this might be a better one but for some reason the game to me just sucks.It's kinda like my brother and I. He loves those strategy games...the ones you have to listen to and crap like that. I'm a sports, DIE DIE kinda of guy with my games but doom...blah!

That said most play it with the gamma bumped up a tad...some place close to r_gamma 1.2-1.4Actually over all I liked Alien vs Predator it had a few issues when I played it but over all a good game.CoD is a good SP game little doubt about that...but its MP sucks a**.Tho I can make out your slant on games judging from your last & prior statements....if its not a war game then it blows....so why oh why did you buy the game?Well if you haven't tried SoF II then I would suggest that SP is okay but the MP is awesome.
SiMoNsAyS Posted August 22, 2004 Posted August 22, 2004 i really like d3, i love scary games and d3 it's one of them. the darkness around corners make the game... funny ?? i love when a guy brakes 2 pipes and comes to you surrounding fire. it's the only game that converts a big room on hell in 3 seconds . i recommend all of you play it and let decide by yourself.i agree, it's a little darker sometimes but you can just adjust gamma someone said this before: toggle down the console (ctrl+alt+~) and write "seta r_gamma 1.3" without quotes, that will do the job

(if player near by spawn and walk towards him and kill?, if player opens the door kill him?)well after playing 1-2 levels u can easily spot where the zombie's will be at. but still I play it bc I was expecting the game for a long time, and not so many games new these days that i like, if hl2 was to be released at the same time, i'd never play doom3.(unless I beat hl2 )

Actually I have 5 pcs in my house now and none of them are what you would call lesser system. Trust me when I say this (other who know me on this board can agree) my system specs are above the required for the game.I've played many types of games and yes war games are my preferred but I'm open to all games. Doom 3 is harder then hell to even follow. You can get trapped in a freakin corner because you can't see anything. How annoying is that.Anyways what's with all the abbreviation?Can you spell this out for the non-ileet people such as myself?Well if you haven't tried SoF II then I would suggest that SP is okay but the MP is awesome.

Face it we are looking at scripted AI for the next 5 or more years at least...and even then there is going to be some preset objective and general path presets.XPerties -Okay I can understand you not knowing about the var commands, or heck the console in and of its self...but I do have a hard time understanding with your post count, and the fact you stated you have some rather buff systems at home...thus one would be lead to believe that your skilled in the use of computers in general.......but you never thought of upping the brightness on your monitor or tweaking the contrast?? or playing with the driver settings in the Display Pannel.....I think if your biggest grip is that you can't see any thing....you should be more up set with your self than the game, for not correcting the issue thats of little to no effort at all to fix.hmmm didn't realize I was using leet speak....still don't think I am...just taking for granted that you knew a thing or two about games...oh well my mistake.

It's not a road you should go down and smarty pants I could change my display and yes I thought about it but oh wait....stopping the game then changing it back? All this for a lame @ss game. I'm not about to change my entire system for one lame game that doesn't give you the option to do so in the first place.The fact is I think the game is trash. Plain and simple and I have the right to say what I think.kC_ - Thanks this looks nice. I assume I'll have to reinstall my COD since this appears to be an add-on.

I was also the same as you when I didn't like the darkness for the first few levels, but it gets better later on with brighter areas.You can also get a mod that will tape the flashlight onto your weapons

" has to take a time playing .anyway and offtopic, hl2 will bait d3, specially on AI and objects interaction that's for sure, but at the moment...
