shizznats Posted August 17, 2004 Posted August 17, 2004 Hey,Why is it that my friend has a cracked version of Windows XP Pro ... and he just went on the Microsoft website, downloaded SP2 and installed it. If he can do this, then why are there all these "crack SP2" files on emule and so on. How does this work? Also, I am reinstalling my windows now, is there a difference if i install XP PRO SP1 and then upgrade to SP2, or is it better to install XP PRO with SP2 integrated? Thanks,Mike
aknott Posted August 17, 2004 Posted August 17, 2004 for the first question I have no answerfor the secondthe two methods are OK but if you have a cdrom under the hand, make directly an unattendet with sp2 slipstreamed you'll win timeit's not better it's just more quickly
XtremeMaC Posted August 17, 2004 Posted August 17, 2004 answer for the 1st one.Ms might not have changed or added any new blacklisted serial keys and they probably did not change their method of activation.so they didn't change or update the files which are for activation. so if u have sp1 and already cracked it sp2 won't ask for activation bc the activation files are not changed. but if that person integrates sp2 to his/her non-service packed cd, they might need a crack for it.
nolookingca Posted August 18, 2004 Posted August 18, 2004 I read in the main MSFN news that M$ was still using its tiny collection of "bad" keys from SP1 to "better protect users"
MCT Posted August 18, 2004 Posted August 18, 2004 thats true, ms has allowed pirated keys 2 go ahead & install sp2, so that it would stop viruses from spreading (or help keep them @ bay)
