vorte[x] Posted August 8, 2004 Posted August 8, 2004 There are a bunch of ways to skip over the CryptVerifySignature function thats called within' uxtheme and yet you use the exact same patched bytes as StyleXP/I use. Gimme a break - This is the second time you'd be improperly using other people's work (TGTSoft's in this case) and calling it your own.
MCT Posted August 8, 2004 Posted August 8, 2004 i say.. if its vorte[x]'s work give him credit 4 it.. i know he's the 1 with the website explaining it all but if its not.. u really cant do 2 much about it just my $0.02 worth
vorte[x] Posted August 8, 2004 Posted August 8, 2004 It's not my work either - It was originally TGTsoft's work when they gave users the ability to manually patch their uxtheme.dll files - I merely keep the patches up-to-date (and stored in a repository) as it's not in TGTsoft's best interest to keep the patch updated (lose money).
MCT Posted August 8, 2004 Posted August 8, 2004 ic now i know the full story i think its good that your doing it personally thats what i prefer 2 use
Denney Posted August 9, 2004 Author Posted August 9, 2004 Let me explain how I came about the edit for SP2... (note: I didn't know it was TGTSoft's patches on SP1).I downloaded the patched uxtheme.dll for SP1. Found out what the edits were back then. I just assumed that that was how uxtheme.dll was patched. In SP2, I used trial and error to get the right hex edits to allow unsigned themes. If this just happens to be the same as what you and TGTSoft use, then sorry, but I didn't know they used the same edits.Coincidence I guess. And when was the other time I was using other peoples work as my own? I gave you credit in the first thread I did on sfc_os.dll for SP2, so I forgot in the next thread, big deal, I still gave you credit in the first place.Edit: As I said in the first place to you vorte[x], I don't really care about credits... I couldn't find this information easily in any other place so I put it here... It's mearly a public service... didn't know someone else did it the exact same way... so I don't see how credit is due.

If this just happens to be the same as what you and TGTSoft use, then sorry, but I didn't know they used the same edits. So you found the previous edits for previous builds of uxtheme and applied them to current builds. How could you claim this to be your own work then? In the words of a to-remain-anonymous board member that so pleasantly (sarcasm) PMed me:"And once it's been done once, the subsequent versions are tit."Coincidence I guess. And when was the other time I was using other peoples work as my own? I gave you credit in the first thread I did on sfc_os.dll for SP2, so I forgot in the next thread, big deal, I still gave you credit in the first place.Keep in mind the credit you gave me wasn't given until *after* I had to publicly remind you in that thread.<snip> As I said in the first place to you vorte[x], I don't really care about credits... <snip>Obviously not, as publicly available information keeps ending up on the forums and labeled as 'your work'.Great work sonny!
Stinger12348 Posted August 9, 2004 Posted August 9, 2004 GOD, everyone wants to be famous. Thanks for the file.
Peabody Posted August 9, 2004 Posted August 9, 2004 Just exactly who do I overwrite the current uxtheme.dll file?
GreenMachine Posted August 9, 2004 Posted August 9, 2004 If you payed a tad bit more attention to my PM, you might have also heeded my request to keep this a pleasant place. So, what's the point, vorte[x]? That you've got the biggest dick around? Or that you are the biggest dick around? Get a life ...GreenMachine, a.k.a. The (No Longer) Anonymous Board Member.
evilvoice Posted August 9, 2004 Posted August 9, 2004 ok, mr no longer anonymous...sorry couldnt resist, but what do you mean by tit? or is that a mispost by vortex?
homiebrah Posted August 9, 2004 Posted August 9, 2004 Gawd, this thread sounds like it belongs over on ieXbeta.
Denney Posted August 9, 2004 Author Posted August 9, 2004 lol... I couldn't be bothered fighting like this. I know what I've done is my work and I'm right not to have to credit anyone.I know it's my work and my friends know it my work (most don't even care).hehe... thanks Mr. Annonymous for the support though...
GreenMachine Posted August 9, 2004 Posted August 9, 2004 @homiebrah: No kiddin'. Now if we could only get a mod to move it over there!@Peabody: Just replace the existing UXTHEME.DL_ with the one linked to in the first post of this thread AFTER slipstreaming SP2, and (obviously) before burning your CD.
prathapml Posted August 9, 2004 Posted August 9, 2004 Now, now..........Please, no conflicts here. I do know that vorte[x] has been providing a wonderful help to many of us with his regularly updated (hacked) uxtheme.dll since quite some time.Cheers to that! Raverod has been wonderful too. Now, it just seems to have been a mis-understanding between 2 board members - let's get over with it and shake hands.EDIT:I just got this funny thought- What would you two say when you hear of the wonderful discoveries of old made by 2 scientists - both at the same time, and independant of each other. Has a lot of similarity to what is happening here, I suppose.
