benn20uk Posted July 4, 2004 Posted July 4, 2004 For some reason I'm still asked for the product key when I use my Cd... And yes, I do type my key in properly... Is there any other section that could be the reason behind this?[userData] ProductKey=XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX FullName="Ben" OrgName="-" ComputerName=fresh

killerbee Posted July 4, 2004 Posted July 4, 2004 hi,do you use XP pro or home?for home it's ProductID in winnt.sif and ProductKey for Pro...cyaKiller Bee
benn20uk Posted July 4, 2004 Author Posted July 4, 2004 It's Pro, the original, not SP1... And I tried using ProductID just in case... I might even go away and try ProductID="XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX" just in case that works. In the meantime I'm running out of ideas... it's definately the right key in the answer file, and the key definately works... And since this is now the only bit that needs me to be there I'd like to know why...Please, please, please, please, please let someone know have the answer...
XtremeMaC Posted July 4, 2004 Posted July 4, 2004 do you use XP pro or home?for home it's ProductID in winnt.sif and ProductKey for Pro...thats not right!I have both the home & pro versions I use productkey for both, it worksnever had a problem with productkeyafaik productid goes for win2k...
sleepnmojo Posted July 5, 2004 Posted July 5, 2004 Maybe its because they are all X's Seriously though, it looks fine from here. I use ProductKey also.I suggest you erase the line, and rewrite it, usually fixes the problem. Or try using the deployment package to look at your sif file.
catwalker63 Posted July 5, 2004 Posted July 5, 2004 Use the quotes around your productID or productkey.
benn20uk Posted July 5, 2004 Author Posted July 5, 2004 Interestingly, after writing a new answer file, it all works again... I may have answered a couple of questions differently, but I dont know what could have affected the product key bit...Put it down as one of life's little mysteries...Thanks for the help anyway...
