XtremeMaC Posted December 23, 2003 Posted December 23, 2003 I've never seen an option like shutting down the pc on idle time?are u talking about stand-by?
gosh Posted December 24, 2003 Posted December 24, 2003 Since some people are already slipstreaming SP2 here's a couple new registry settings. These keys control the new xp popup blockerHKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\New Windows\AllowHKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\New Windows\PlaySoundHKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\New Windows\BlockUserInitHKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\New Windows\PopupMgrEach value is a reg_sz. The value is either a yes or a no.The manager plugins registry keys are stored at HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\ExtI don't think this key actually has the extensions. Instead it references the class id of the plugin. While using regmon to find the registry keys, these registry keys were also listed. I don't know if they're related or regmon just happened to catch them. Either way here's more registry keys, they belong in HKCU\software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\AdvancedListViewScrollOverListViewWatermarkListviewAlphaSelectListviewShadowUseDoubleClickTimer-gosh
X-Ecutioner Posted December 24, 2003 Posted December 24, 2003 @Lost Soul What your talking about is in power management. there are settings that turn off harddrives and monitors after a set time. Goto control panel and then power management
Lost Soul Posted December 24, 2003 Posted December 24, 2003 well yess i know what it is and where its located but i was just asking if there was a registry key / tweak that could automatically turn the feature off in the power management that turns the monitor off.. do you know it,,, i do know how to do it manually but,, im trying to have things set up on the unattended disc so i dont have to do nothing any more,, thats the joy of a great disc to be able to just kick back and relax with a coke at hand,, but any ways,, do you know the tweak for the power management settings . ?
Klaassh Posted December 24, 2003 Posted December 24, 2003 I believe you set it up how you want it and then export this key[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\PowerCfg\PowerPolicies\0]EG:;Set Power Configuration[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\PowerCfg]"CurrentPowerPolicy"="0"[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\PowerCfg\PowerPolicies\0]"Policies"=hex:01,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,01,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,02,00,00,00,00,\ 00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,2c,01,00,00,32,32,00,03,04,00,00,00,04,00,\ 00,00,01,00,00,00,14,f2,06,00,30,2a,00,00,2c,01,00,00,00,00,00,00,58,02,00,\ 00,00,00,64,64,64,64,95,71

DreamweaverN Posted December 24, 2003 Posted December 24, 2003 also my bios has it does that mean I've an onboard graphics ram?Sorry for not responding. That just means what amount of RAM will be reseved (if needed, in most cases it won't) to video card overflow. Just so long as you set the AGP Appature (sp? sorry it's late) to 64 or lower the NTFS tweak should work fine.
gosh Posted December 24, 2003 Posted December 24, 2003 Let's keep this page to just registry tweaks rather than general talk. Any problems with the registry tweaks should be opened up in a new thread.-gosh
creopard Posted December 25, 2003 Posted December 25, 2003 SP2-tweak only!if you have trouble with activeX (i.e. several pages are not displayed properly anymore), try this reg-hack:HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main\FeatureControl\FEATURE_LOCALMACHINE_LOCKDOWNChange both keys there to zero
Writer Posted December 29, 2003 Posted December 29, 2003 Any1 know a good Registry Editor (better than regedit)???Registry Explorer. Browse the Registry just like Windows Explorer. Lets you type in (or copy and paste) a path into the address bar, set up shortcuts, etc.
Quaddamage Posted December 29, 2003 Posted December 29, 2003 I also, have been spending hours and hours looking through the site. This is the best source of unattend/xp tweaks I have ever seen. Very impressed. Because I'm so impressed with the wealth of knowledge in here I decided I'd throw up a VERY annoying problem I've been having for years. I have a gateway computer with gateway keyboard. I am using default xp drivers for the keyboard (even though I have the same problem when using gateway's drivers) When the . or the 0 on the numlock keypad are depressed xp will load OE or Outlook 2003 (depending on what I have installed at the moment). This happens on XP, and 2000, and 2003. Is anyone aware of an OE reg key that will disable any possible use of keyboard hotkeys to launch the program? Since this has been tested with mulitple OS's I'm confident it's the keyboard but Im hoping it is resolvable through the registry. Any suggestions? (besides buy a new keyboard) Thanks
larciel Posted January 3, 2004 Posted January 3, 2004 is this right space to ask for registry tweaks? or is it contribution only?*i have question for several tweaks*1. how to expand the control panel"?2. how to show control panel in old style mode?3. how to show quick launch by default?4. how to disable 'hide inactive icon' ?it'd be great if anyone has the answer *and anyone know code to restart the machine after all the silent program install in .cmd ? or does it go under [GUIRUNONCE] ?
