Slipstream WMP10

Recommended Posts

I'm working on my 2nd unattended cd. This time around I'm im slipstreaming sp2 into it, but I'd also slipstream WMP10 (I wouldn't really call it 10, it says 10 but its more like 9, but better looking), but I need some help. I previously had WMP9 slipstreamed using boecks batch files. I was wondering if someone could help me figure out a way to WMP10 onto this cd. any help is appreciated

umm....

first, we'd have to have access to WMP10. And officially, Microsoft doesn't want people to have it. So if you provided a link to it, you'd be breaking the rules. So i'd tried lightly concerning this.

You're not even supposed to have it. Longhorn maybe, they released that to people at WinHEC and PDC, but I far as I know, they never realesed a copy of WMP10.

That's why I didn't provide a link :). I was merely hoping someone more expierenced on the forums also had WMP10 (although like i said installer says wmp10 but if go2 about i the prog it says wmp series 9 and version # is 9.00.00.3409) and could help me with this.

This works for me...

ECHO.
ECHO Installing Windows Media Player 9.0.0.3409 (WMP10)
ECHO Please wait...
start /wait %systemdrive%\install\WMP\MPSetupXP.EXE /Q:A /R:N /C:"setup_wm.exe /DisallowSystemRestore /Q:A /R:N"

the reason why there was a slipstream of WMP9, was because the creator extracted all the files, and found their corresponding files in the XP CD.

Just stick with the switches, it is alot easier. You could also make an IEXPRESS package and have it install from SVCPACK

How does one go about making it so that WMP9 is not installed with the SP2 update? I also have WM10. If possible, I would prefer it to be installed instead of WMP9. Is there a value I can add in my winnt.sif to prevent this (as is the case with Windows Messenger, ClipBook Viewer, etc.)...???

Or do a search in this forum for "really slipstream dx9" posted by jdeboeck.

In that post he has a method to slipstream dx9 and mp9. I believe he also explains how he did it, that might help in doing it with mp10.

Thanks guys. Will be trying on the next rebuild. (3 a day at present).

Oops, just checked. Isn't this for the bundled pack? MP9 on its own is MPSetupXP.exe and the MM2 bundle is MPSetup.exe

No, didn't work for me. I got the following error at T13.

Command line option syntax error. Type Command /? for Help.

Yea I know, not a helpful error. Could be anything.but I've only added the MP9 setup and the MP9 Hotfix that follows it - my fault I should have tried one at a time.

Would be grateful if anyone more experienced could cast their eye over my svcpack.inf

Oh God. I just thought.

Alanoll - do I need to unpack the MPsetupXP or is that what the first part of the command does?
