FantasyAcquiesce Posted February 22 Posted February 22 (edited) Hello MSFN, I am having trouble installing Windows XP on this machine. I do recall managing to install it before but now I am entirely unable to. Even an ISO of Windows 7 (albeit updated with USB 3.0) drivers kept giving me a BSoD. I've used rufus 2.18, winboottousb, YUMI/Universal Installer, and no good results. Results varied between freezing or another error: Rufus (CSM) - Gets to the setup but claims Windows XP cannot format the partition Winboottousb - Black screen in attempt to launch the first part of Windows XP YUMI - I recall black screen I really need help MSFN, been stuck on this for a few days now. My ISO does have an sata driver. I am suspecting maybe the hard drive could be corrupt. Which linux distro would your recommend I use for diagnostics? Edited February 22 by FantasyAcquiesce

You mean the one you stuffed with custom made drivers using the dreaded NLite? https://msfn.org/board/topic/186694-kaby-lake-sata-storage-drivers-for-windows-7/page/2/#findComment-1278071

If you have any information regarding Windows XP on this AIO HP model, then it would be appreciated by the world. The odds are people will search the internet and find this topic. Rod Steel Posted February 25 Posted February 25 (edited) Why you use flash drive to install windows? HP 600 should have a blu-ray optical drive. Why not install using DVD disc and optical drive? Did your XP ISO have AHCI drivers built-in with NLite? Or change AHCI mode to IDE in BIOS. Maybe just change HDD and try again? That's all ideas so far. Edited February 25 by Rod Steel 2

What exactly you didn't like in my reply? Why do you integrate USB3 into an ISO for a 20 years old DDR2 LGA775 machine? It doesn't have them! So, my advice is to take the original Vista or 7 ISO and try to install so you would be sure your disk is fine. BEFORE you proceed with XP. 2

None, those can't be trusted in testing your hardware. I had several cases where my RAM passed all tests with flying colours, running from there, then failed with booting Windows. 4

But seeing my high failure rate here, it might be a good idea to remove the hard drive and check it with an external USB adapter. This way, I can figure out for sure if it works.
