JedClampett Posted June 13, 2023 Posted June 13, 2023 Hello all, I'm trying to fit Windows 10 22H2 installer onto a 4.7GB DVD+RW disk - but the image is too big. Is there any way I can do this from Linux Mint please? TIA 1
NotHereToPlayGames Posted June 15, 2023 Posted June 15, 2023 Unsure why you think Linux Mint is required for this task? We have an NTLite section here at MSFN but it predates my membership and I have not read through them so I am unsure if your question is already answered in any of them. I have not used NTLite (but I do use nLite for my XP install media). For Win10, I prefer WinReducer EX-100. Pretty much all DVD burners not older than 18 years or so (dual layer has been around since 2003 but became more mainstream between 2005 and 2007) all are capable of dual layer discs which have an 8.5 GB capacity and you can get them as +RW.
JedClampett Posted June 15, 2023 Author Posted June 15, 2023 Thanks for your helpful reply @NotHereToPlayGames My Acer has got a DL optical drive. I'm a bit stuck where to find DVD+RW DL disks here in the UK. Obviously I prefer +RW DL disks so I can re-use them if needed - eg. if the burn process doesn't work.
HarryTri Posted June 17, 2023 Posted June 17, 2023 I'm not sure but I have the impression that RW DL discs don't really exist.
JedClampett Posted June 17, 2023 Author Posted June 17, 2023 (edited) @HarryTri Maybe that's why I can't find any then Harry If that's the case - I might have to go down this route here: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-hardware/manufacture/desktop/split-a-windows-image--wim--file-to-span-across-multiple-dvds?view=windows-11 PS: I would boot from a USB flash drive - but I keep hitting this error - and it seems a lot of hoops to jump through: https://www.avoiderrors.com/unable-create-new-system-partition/ Edited June 17, 2023 by JedClampett
