FelixPls1 Posted June 21, 2020 Posted June 21, 2020 So I got this old Pionex computer back in December. I tried to dual boot it with NT 4.0 for some reason, deleted the whole OS by accident, reinstalled it, and now, it's stuck with 16 colors and a 640x480 resolution! I've tried everything, from drivers to SciTech Display Doctor to reinstalling it yet again, but nothing seems to work It only goes into true color when I open up a DOS application
Wunderbar98 Posted June 21, 2020 Posted June 21, 2020 Hi FelixPls1. Not familiar with Pionex computers. If graphic resolutuion worked well before, then it's not likely a hardware issue, probably just driver related. It would be helpful to provide specific information regarding your graphic driver chipset.

schwups Posted June 26, 2020 Posted June 26, 2020 This information does not help us. Do you have exclamation or question marks in the device manager? And where? Did you install a chipset driver? Please install a system information program, e.g. Everest 2.2 (2005 free) or a later trial version and give us the information about your motherboard/chipset and the graphics unit!
FelixPls1 Posted June 26, 2020 Author Posted June 26, 2020 The motherboard is a Biostar M6TWG, and I think the graphics unit is a Intel i752
TigTex Posted June 26, 2020 Posted June 26, 2020 (edited) It should be a intel 810 chipset Try this https://download.cnet.com/win9x67-zip/3000-2108_4-104242.html Supports PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_7121.DeviceDesc="Intel(R) 82810 Graphics Controller" PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_7123.DeviceDesc="Intel(R) 82810-DC100 Graphics Controller" PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_7125.DeviceDesc="Intel(R) 82810E Graphics Controller" PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_1132.DeviceDesc="Intel(R) 82815 Graphics Controller" Edited June 26, 2020 by TigTex
schwups Posted June 26, 2020 Posted June 26, 2020 (edited) https://www.biostar-usa.com/mbdownloads.asp?model=m6twg I think I recall that Intel Version 6.3.0.1008 was the last official chipset driver for 98, not 7.0.0..1019. I would install the chipset driver first and then the graphics/video driver. Edited June 26, 2020 by schwups
