I have to install Windows 98 SE via setup /p i and it's a pain considering I have to turn ACPI off in the bios.

Would be nice if there was a kernel patch for 98se that would fix ACPI.  Then I could go back and forth between

XP and 98se without futzing with ACPI in the bios.

Check in BIOS setup if you have the option of changing ACPI version without turning it off.

Or find how to use this:

That's way beyond me, though...

Huh? You don't have to change ACPI settings in BIOS to make setup /p i work correctly. It will simply not use ACPI at all.

I don't have options to turn off ACPI on my ASRock H110M-DVS R3.0 motherboard BIOS yet Windows 98 SE installs just fine :)

In my experience, using /p i also disables APM.

It does not.  But there are boards having just ACPI, and on those boards one can get without both ACPI (because of /p i) and APM (because there was none to start with).
