Jody Thornton
Hey folks! My question directly relates to my Surface tablet running Windows RT, but I'm sure it's also the case with Windows 8.1. I reset my RT tablet because of perceived Windows Store issues (turns out my installation was fine, and I should have left well enough alone). Anyway, I went to the Windows Store to reinstall my apps. One app I wanted to reinstall was Bing Wikipedia Browser. But in the last two weeks, the app has been removed from the Store. Now, I understand that if I can obtain the AppX package files, I can use Powershell to install the app. Does anyone know how I might possibly be able to obtain the app, without its being on the Windows Store? HarryTri
There are two obscure possibilities... To find it somewhere on the internet or to find somebody who has it and is willing to share it with you. The same thing happens with apps in the Google Play and... well, its a dead end as far as I can say.
jaclaz
Sorry for the bump, but I feel like this piece of news is fine here: https://www.golem.de/news/subdomain-takeover-microsoft-loses-control-over-windows-tiles-1904-140717.html Quote Microsoft loses control over Windows Tiles A service from Microsoft used to allow web page owners to deliver news on Windows Tiles as so-called Windows Live Tiles. After the service has been disabled, we were able to take over the corresponding subdomain and display our own Tile contents. jaclaz
Jody Thornton
Very relevant jaclaz (I don't hate thread bumping). Thank Gawd I don't used live tiles on Windows RT, and I completely disable the Start Screen on PC-based Windows 8. Whew!
