i430VX Posted July 27, 2017 Posted July 27, 2017 (edited) Pretty soon i will Have an IBM...err...Lenovo Thinkpad T60 to mess with... and, eventually, I'll upgrade the CPU to Intel Core 2 Duo processor T7600 Which is 64-bit. Has anyone run XPx64 on a T60? I can't seem to find anything on it. Any chance of XP32 drivers working on 64 bit? I may be able to find drivers for the individual parts from their manufacturers, but i am not entirely sure of the hardware in it yet as i don't have the laptop. (snail mail takes a bit...) I'm asking now because i don't want to buy a XPx64 licence if it might not work... Ill post more details when i receive this laptop. Edited January 31, 2020 by i430VX
FantasyAcquiesce Posted July 27, 2017 Posted July 27, 2017 I've tried installing x64 on my R60 a while back with I used an offline driverpack to have no luck.. 32-bit drivers just don't like 64-bit OSes I couldn't be bothered looking for drivers so I quit at the time. Here's the video driver for the 945GM chipset Driver for an intel wireless card Searching the internet, SoundMAX Integrated Digital Audio has no 64-bit driver.
Dibya Posted July 27, 2017 Posted July 27, 2017 I feel lucky My Compaq 620 and ASUS G73JH X5 has both 32bit and 64bit drivers .
i430VX Posted July 27, 2017 Author Posted July 27, 2017 (edited) Yeah I figured... I'll do some (more) poking around myself, but I don't think it's gonna happen (with a full set of drivers, at least.) Edited July 27, 2017 by Mr.Presario
Monroe Posted July 27, 2017 Posted July 27, 2017 Just a hint to go over to the ThinkPad forum ... they have several sellers that will also build a FrankenPad to order or have built several already for themselves. There will probably be some help and answers there. ThinkPad Forum https://forum.thinkpads.com// ThinkPad T6x Series T60/T61 series specific matters only https://forum.thinkpads.com/viewforum.php?f=29&sid=1b81eda2725f1f2823bea1f030c52c8d ...
i430VX Posted July 27, 2017 Author Posted July 27, 2017 I'll make sure to check that forum out, Monroe. Thanks! Don't know how i missed that forum, but they will likely be of help.
Monroe Posted July 27, 2017 Posted July 27, 2017 Just to add ... when you get the Thinkpad T60, if you find the fan never shuts off ... there are two good fan utilities in the forum developed by members. ThinkPad Forum https://forum.thinkpads.com// ... on that page go to the bottom thread 'ThinkPad Utility Work Area' ... https://forum.thinkpads.com/viewforum.php?f=27&sid=56fdb93704fb4a9a1f18b011d9e9454d I like TPFC v0.62 by troubadix but I don't use X64. i430VX Posted August 29, 2017 Author Posted August 29, 2017 ooops forgot TPM from https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/forums/v3_1/forumtopicpage/board-id/tp05_en/thread-id/16185/page/1 has instructions on the device (atm1200) Quote 12. Atmel TPM (trusted platform module) driver installation for XP x64 mini-howto prerequisite: Identify which of the unknown devices you'll work with: Have a look in Device manager and right click on the unknown device -> properties -> details -> look for the "ACPI\ATM1200...." identifier (go though the unknown devices until you find the right one). This is it. That we're gonna work upon. This was a bit trickier than usual "download setup and run".Lenovo didnt include the 64bit ".sys" and ".dll" files into the setup file they supply. As I wrote in my last post, i missed 2 particular files. So tried to do a bit hunting again .... firstly: go to the Atmel corp. www and download trusted platform module driver from them herehttp://www.atmel.com/forms/software_...M Driver.zip I'll have to fill in some crap info in the form for the download to start ... You save file "Atmel TPM Driver.zip" and then you unzip it => voila you get the "Atmel TPM Driver.msi" file, which you run in order to install driver. secondly: After running that ".msi" file, it again! ended with some error. I thought ***** ... I looked up and googled for some tool to be able to extract manually ".msi" files ... found here nice one! :http://blogs.pingpoet.com/overflow/a...6/02/2449.aspx Dowload that tool, unzip it somewhere and follow the steps described on above web page to extract the ".msi" installer. e.g. I extracted it like that (you sure probably have other dir names): C:\LessMSIerables>lessmsi.exe -x "c:\bordylek\Atmel TPM Driver.msi" c:\bordylek\atmel.tpm.msi.file_unpacked In my directory ("atmel.tpm.msi.file_unpacked\SourceDir\temp") i FINALLY FOUND the two missing files: atmeltpm64.sys and tpmddl64.dll thirdly: last things last - usual stuff -> manually update the driver for "unknown device" ... firstly i directed it to folder where i saved the atmel tpm from lenovo and when it complained about those above mentioned files, i redirected to the folder with extracted ".msi" installer... uff this was longer, but i had to write it down before i forgot everything! Hope it works for you too!
