JaKSLaP Posted February 4, 2016 Author Posted February 4, 2016 HUH???? Do you Google/Bing/Yahoo/etc.? (sheesh!!!)hdd backup image "windows 98"CloneZilla... Yes i do... but i want to know what the best version for Windows 98. maybe because its really old it needs a special version.
submix8c Posted February 4, 2016 Posted February 4, 2016 No. There is no "best version". I use Ghost, but that's not free. CloneZilla is (as is many others). Cloning/Imaging isn't done on a Running OS. It's done via a Bootable Media. That makes the OS irrelevant. HTH
jaclaz Posted February 5, 2016 Posted February 5, 2016 Strangely enough, clonezilla won't actually produce a "clone" image (and "normally" not even ghost), but rather a "backup" image. Depending on which kind of image you want to make you might want to use Partition Saving instead:http://www.partition-saving.com/ See here for a quick examination of the differences between images and imaging apps:http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/157634-hard-disk-cloningimaging-from-inside-windows/?p=1007158 jaclaz
CamTron Posted February 9, 2016 Posted February 9, 2016 If you want to make a straight, raw image of the hard disk or a partition, you can use the Linux dd command. It will be very slow, though, depending on the size of your hard disk.
