Aero Glass and Windows 10 build 10586

My Windows 10 just auto-updated to 10.0.10586 and Aero Glass stopped working properly:

It kinda work, but it shows error message at windows start and colors messed up: Changes on customization color page lead to change to wrong colors etc.

I read that there is a test build #506 which supposed to fix the incompatibility so I installed it. Now when Windows starts these windows appear and it is not possible to close console window (it reopens).

Also watermark appeared.

  • Is there a solution how to make it work without side effects at the moment?
  • If not, is there a forecast when version supporting new windows build could be released?

Thanks!

Just installed new version 1.4.5 which should support 10586 build. It actually fixed windows buttons (the icons were broken) but windows titles now are white-only, can not change color... when I change it - only window border changes, see screenshot - green border but not windows header.

Yes this is the case for me too. It seems to now only apply color if you have the Colorization prevalence setting engaged.

Issue the following from admin console:

Colorization of Titlebar only without colorizing action center, start menu, or taskbar
Set "Show color on Start ..." to Off in Settings panel then issue:
REG ADD "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\DWM" /v ColorPrevalence /t REG_DWORD /d 1 /f

Set active titlebar color to blueish:
REG ADD "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\DWM" /v AccentColor /t REG_DWORD /d ffd77800 /f

Set inactrive titlebar color to black:
REG ADD "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\DWM" /v AccentColorInactive /d ff000000 /f

Colors can then be adjusted using the GUI utility. Color values use hexadecimal KML AABBGGRR
FF = 255
00 = 0

Aero Glass for Win 8+ for version 10586, found here:  http://www.glass8.eu/download.html

For me the installer ran perfectly and Aero Glass started right up.  It even retained my custom theme atlas setting.

Looks like the aerohost.exe, DWMGlass.dll, and ModernFrame.dll have all been updated with the latest build, so if you use ModernFrame to alter the chrome on Modern apps you'll want to run the installer to get the latest modules, since it's not included in the manual file sets.

FYI, keep in mind the installer will completely overwrite AppInit_DLLs, so if you were using the UxThemeSignatureBypass DLLs, for example, you'll need to remake your preferred AppInit_DLLs value.
