sven Posted March 31, 2004 Posted March 31, 2004 my hard drive is ntfs formated, im running windows xp home. Every guide I find tells me to go to the security tab and change user permitions and stuff, but i dont have that.does anyone have any ideas?
Justice Posted March 31, 2004 Posted March 31, 2004 Unless there's a registry hack (I'm sure there is) you need Pro. Home had some neutering done to the ntfs.

ljones2 Posted March 31, 2004 Posted March 31, 2004 For XP HomeBoot into safe mode then you will have the security tab.For XP ProStart>Settings>Control Panel>Folder Options>View tab> uncheck use simple file sharing. You should now have the security tab.

HyDeNCiTy Posted April 5, 2004 Posted April 5, 2004 Is there a way to have a directory locked, so that when you try to go in t here it asks you for a password?? Cuase if someone is logged in as you, they can get in the directory cause of the rights... right?? or not??
sven Posted April 5, 2004 Author Posted April 5, 2004 well, i want it to be accessible from all users, but need a password. like to get to my text files from say, my brothers account, without him deleting them.
