Monroe Posted April 2, 2014 Posted April 2, 2014 (edited) OK that may be "old news" but my real question is as follows. I really don't like the new version and am going to stay with the older version 1.75 for my XP system. I can't find any newer manual updates beyond March 23rd ... last time I updated. The new version seems to have been released around that time also ... MajorGeeks has a date of March 24th for the newer 2.0 version.I tried the newer version and decided to stay with the older version ... I found some info saying the older version will continue to be supported ... both free and paid. So far the auto update on version 1.75 doesn't work for me and I can't find any online download sites for the older manual update. Anyone also have any luck with a newer manual or auto update for version 1.75? ... if anyone else is also going to stay with the older version. What does Malwarebytes Anti-Malware 2.0 mean for me?https://helpdesk.malwarebytes.org/entries/45274777-What-does-Malwarebytes-Anti-Malware-2-0-mean-for-me-#will-you-continue-supportingWill you continue supporting my Malwarebytes Anti-Malware 1.75?Yes, we will continue to support Malwarebytes Anti-Malware 1.75 free and paid (Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Pro) with regular database updates. You will still be protected from new threats.Current users of MBAM 1.75 can upgrade to 2.0 for free at https://www.malwarebytes.org/update. Edited April 8, 2014 by monroe
jaclaz Posted April 2, 2014 Posted April 2, 2014 Naah, the good guys at Malware Bytes were affected by the "modern disease", and besides making the site looking as the usual demented kids playground (and seemingly removing the manual update method from the new 2.x ):https://forums.malwarebytes.org/index.php?showtopic=145331https://forums.malwarebytes.org/index.php?showtopic=145331&p=811956seemingly you can get an outdated update from here point FAQ - Section A - Item #4:https://forums.malwarebytes.org/index.php?showtopic=10138&page=1entry490977http://data-cdn.mbamupdates.com/tools/mbam-rules.exeNOTE: This manual update will always be way behind in version level compared to updates from within the program.Another good product going along the stupidity path .... jaclaz
Monroe Posted April 2, 2014 Author Posted April 2, 2014 Thanks ... I had read all that earlier and saw that there was no manual update for the newer version. I also doubled checked after I installed it. I didn't "attack" the new version since most people may like the whole setup ... most of the complaints have been it has the Windows 8 look. I just like the look and feel of version 1.75 ... I guess I lucked out getting the March 23rd update before the updates were cut off.If anyone finds future updates for MBM v1.75 ... let the few of us still interested know.
Flasche Posted April 2, 2014 Posted April 2, 2014 (edited) There is a Malwarebytes 2.0 ?!? I just updated my malwarebytes 1.75 to the latest version with no issue. I dont get the 2.0 workup. Monroe Posted April 2, 2014 Author Posted April 2, 2014 (edited) So you are saying you are able to update version 1.75 with the latest definition. When I try to get the latest update ... a box pops up saying: An error has occurred. Please report this to our support team. Program Error Updating (Host not found)There are some other words but no update happens ... worked fine the last time I updated on the 23rd.... Edited April 2, 2014 by monroe

Tarun Posted April 7, 2014 Posted April 7, 2014 I believe they mean the definitions that a user can download will always be a bit out of date compared to getting them from within the app itself. It's always been like that since they frequently update their definitions and it takes time to pack them into an installer and upload it.
Monroe Posted April 8, 2014 Author Posted April 8, 2014 (edited) Just a few minutes ago I solved my problem as to not being able to download updates to MalwareBytes v1.75 ... I use Proxomitron as a proxy and somehow it was no longer listed in the Settings part of the program. It may have been when I tried the new 2.0 version and decided to go back to the older 1.75 version. After entering the proxy information again, the update part does work for me. Didn't notice the info was gone. When no one else "here" or "anywhere" posted about the same problem, I figured it has to be on my end somewhere ... just took me awhile to figure it out....
