August 1, 201313 yr I just got a new laptop today and it has windows 8 in it. I hate it and want to put windows 7 on can I do that without it messing anything up.
August 1, 201313 yr Depends on which laptop. Some manufactures signed agreements with ms and locked their laptops to windows 8.What is the make and model #? Edited August 1, 201313 yr by Kelsenellenelvian
August 2, 201313 yr Check your Windows 8 license, downgrade rights should be stated there (it may depend on the version of Windows 8, too) see:http://www.zdnet.com/hp-clarifies-windows-8-consumer-pc-downgrade-and-warranties-7000007280/http://www.pcworld.com/article/2015107/downgrading-from-windows-8-to-7-what-you-need-to-know.htmlIn a nutshell, Pro is downgradable, "plain" 8, NO...jaclaz
August 2, 201313 yr You can't do it for free (Like Jaclaz stated)However that laptop is not locked to Windows 8 IF you have a windows 7 license and disk there are drivers for Win7 on that laptop.http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?product=5395173&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en〈=en&cc=us

August 7, 201313 yr I just got a new laptop today and it has windows 8 in it. I hate it and want to put windows 7 on can I do that without it messing anything up.Once BigMuscle releases Aero Glass for Win8, you'll be able to make Windows 8 about 99% as functional as the best configured Windows 7 system. I've done it.This guide tells you how to turn a Windows 8 system essentially back into a Windows 7 system.http://www.prodigitalsoftware.com/W8ToWork.htmlI can't really see any way that it's better than Windows 7, though. And there are a couple of things they just deleted - e.g., Previous Versions integration with Windows Backup.-Noel
August 9, 201313 yr I was a Win8 hater when it first came out, but now that I have my Desktop back, Start menu, Aero, Games and Gadgets etc I have not gone back to Win7, plus I like the faster install time and bootup as well..DP
August 9, 201313 yr don't mind W8 with start is back unfortunately I can not find updated video drivers so games ect don't run so I still use W7 for most of that.
