Aero Glass for Win8.1 RTM RC3

Recommended Posts

I'm new to the forum, I've been following this topic for a long while now. Looking forward to the final release. Very good job so far to the Aero Glass Project, BigMuscle.

1 small edit on the DWMGlass.dll file (Edited using Resource Hacker, probably the most basic program one can use. Idk)

29ehocm.png More Visble Aero Stripes.

x36he.jpg Windows 7 Color Swatches (Aero Glass needs to be active)

How i can have the blue like you? I have applied your reg file, but no difference.

After you have Aero Glass working, meaning the window frames are transparent the Color Swatches from Windows 7,In that reg file, are suppose to work automatically, because the color info and the images from the "Color and Appearence", I believe read off the "DWMGlass.dll" file. As long as that dll file is active the new pre-set Windows 7 colors work.

Whenever you have the DWMGlass.dll inactive, meaning when it's not showing Aero transparency on the window frames, there's a "Error loading Pre-set Colors message." I'm not sure if that's your case.

How to the colors appear on your Color and Appearence Window?

Copy dwmcore.dll and uDWM.dll TO C:\AeroGlass

It is very wrong idea to copy any system libraries (except of symsrv.dll and dbghelp.dll) into Aero Glass folder because it can load wrong DLL version later which results in bad behaviour from crashes to whole OS failure.

But this only work/auto downloads symbols with License.key, is this right ?

where as Copy dwmcore.dll and uDWM.dll TO C:\AeroGlass and cmds work without License.key

This has nothing to do with license. If these DLLs are present in AG folder then DWM process can accidentally load these libraries instead of those in System32 directory.

How about this ? (Works for me) . ;)

Copy dwmcore.dll and uDWM.dll FROM C:\Windows\System32 TO C:\dlls and run these cmds:

cd C:\Program Files (x86)\Windows Kits\8.1\Debuggers\x64symchk /r C:\dlls /s SRV*C:\AeroGlass\symbols\*http://msdl.microsoft.com/download/symbols

Does anyone know of a way to hide the dwm.exe window? I use RTtray but it doesn't want to hide this one :/

Using HideAnyWindow here and it's working fine.

http://www.morun.net/www/downloads/hideanywindow.html

What did you set to hide dwm.exe window? There's another window related with bigmuscle's solution "Information". I hide it with HideAnyWindow by rule: title window include "Information", I did same thing with dwm.exe but this windows always starts with Win 8 and don't know solution to hide it. Can someone help?

You need to set it up using window title name "dwm.exe", then it works.

BEST TO INSTALL ALL WINDOWS 8.1 UPDATES FIRST Because dwmcore.dll and uDWM.dll MAY get updated .

Do I run the Aero Glass for Win8 installer before all of this? Also, do I need a key for this to work?

Error:

Your error is SYTMCHK: uDWM.dll FAILED.

Fix:

Copy dwmcore.dll and uDWM.dll TO C:\AeroGlass

and

Run these cmds until dwmcore.dll and uDWM.dll symbols are download:

cd C:\Program Files (x86)\Windows Kits\8.1\Debuggers\x64symchk /r C:\AeroGlass /s SRV*C:\AeroGlass\symbols\*http://msdl.microsoft.com/download/symbols

NOTES:

You can always CHECK if symbols have downloaded, by opening C:\AeroGlass\symbols Folder, and looking for dwmcore.pdb and uDWM.pdb Folders, If any are missing just keep running the cmds to download them.

Make sure you copy dwmcore.dll and uDWM.dll TO C:\AeroGlass after all updates for windows 8.1 . ;)

Nah, none of that worked for me man. I get these errors running that command [url=http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/842/nxf3.jpg/]nxf3.jpg

Any thing I can edit or change in the regedit?

Hunk4TH they are not errors,There are no symbols to download for DWMGlass.dll, DWMGlass is working, but something has turn off aero transparency, maybe a start menu, or some other 3rd party tool or regedit setting.

Hunk4TH Try this:

Remove dwmcore.dll and uDWM.dll from C:\AeroGlass

Copy dwmcore.dll and uDWM.dll FROM C:\Windows\System32 TO C:\dlls and run these cmds:

cd C:\Program Files (x86)\Windows Kits\8.1\Debuggers\x64symchk /r C:\dlls /s SRV*C:\AeroGlass\symbols\*http://msdl.microsoft.com/download/symbols

NOTES:

This will stop SYTMCHK: DWMGlass.dll FAILED - DWMGlass.pdb mismatched or not found
