Do you know WHY a SxS folder exists?

Do you know WHAT it's contents are and WHY they are there?

Simple answer is No without breaking windows. Elements of it can be slimmed down or removed. Plenty of third party apps around that claim it can be done!

Can even slim the folder down in a live installation by using Dism. Search in Google is your friend!

If you mean the folder under sources, you can delete this folder. This folder contains the .net 3.5 files.When you activate .net 3.5 later, Windows downloads the files from the Internet.

I managed to reduce the WinSxS foldersize to under 200 mb on W8.

Everything is working except Updates and NetFX 2.0, 3.5 install.

Updates are the important thing. So nothing works
