b1017
After getting hit with some nasty spyware I had to re-install Windows 7 from scratch. During the install I'm now randomly getting this error during the install. The weird part is that it happens randomly at different times during the install. I don't think it's the CD since its the same one I used when I first installed it.See the screen shot of the error here.Any help would be appreciated!Barry
Tripredacus
Are you using an answer file? Also what Windows is it?
b1017
No answer file from what I'm aware. I'm using the OEM install CD from HP for Windows 7 32-bit that came with my HP Elite 8100.

b1017
physically looks ok, the error pops up after the file copy is done and it's configuring the components....
cluberti
Hmm. Are you deleting partitions and selecting the new empty space on the disk when prompted, or does it just go right into installing Windows?

cluberti
That's very interesting. Is it always the same error message as the screenshot shows?
nice_guy75
It is just a guess, is it something to do with "System Reserved" partition?
b1017
I was able to figure it out. Not sure why this worked but it did.I set the SATA mode to IDE, booted with a Windows 98 boot disk, ran an fdisk /mbr Next time I ran through the install, everything worked! Thanks for your assistanceBarry
