johnhc Posted April 27, 2011 Posted April 27, 2011 nLite will not process Windows 7 install files, but it does run and process XP install files just fine on Windows 7 (any OS with .NET framework 2 should be fine)Sorry, ricktendo64, the first part is certainly true but running nLite under W7 to create an XP ISO often leads to bad results. The main one I remember is if an SP is integrated, then it may not be possible to get the key accepted. In general, running nlite under W7 is discouraged here (as per Sp0iLedBrAt's response) due to the large number of failures we have seen. lolka, please find a way to run nLite under XP. You can use a VM under W7, including the one available in some versions of W7 if you are processing 32 bit XP. Enjoy, John.
submix8c Posted April 27, 2011 Posted April 27, 2011 (edited) Hint - there's a freely-available VHD image for XP-Mode under 7 on MS website - haven't tried don't have 7 but assume it's a kind of "time-bomb" shutdown type thing like WinPE but probably usable for your purposes (under a VM/VPC?). I know no more about this though.edit - yep, deep within the bowels of the package is a VHD (looking at now in VPC).edit2 - SysPrep'ed - "30 days for activation" - good to go! tossing now as just testing...edit3 - "pre-activated" SLP on Win7 VM, I am assuming (my test was in VPC2007; different VM BIOS). To prevent "transferring" to anything other than an XP-Mode setup. 'Nuff Said! Edited April 27, 2011 by submix8c

submix8c Posted April 27, 2011 Posted April 27, 2011 Only in the case of integrating a service pack...Huh! May have to revise some information. Win7 Users want to put a final confirmation on this? (p.s. First time I heard this phrased this way and didn't even consider the post-SP functionality.)

Kelsenellenelvian Posted April 27, 2011 Posted April 27, 2011 (edited) When nLite integrates a SP in win7 it miffs up key algorithm thus rendering the disk useless. From an earlier thread that discusses this in depth:It`s a well-known bug: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/950722At my "German-WinLite.de" a user came up with a solution:http://www.german-winlite.de/wbb/index.php...p;threadID=1969It says you got to replace (after nLite) the "pidgen.dll" with the one fromthe original XPCD (maybe SP2). It didn`t proof that, bur give it a try. Edited April 27, 2011 by Kelsenellenelvian
lolka Posted April 28, 2011 Author Posted April 28, 2011 thanx all but i need under windows 7 alternative soft?
submix8c Posted April 28, 2011 Posted April 28, 2011 (edited) Nope...As stated, to integrate a Service Pack, you MUST do it on a Windows 2000 or Windows XP.As noted, AFTER Service Pack integration, anything else can be done on Windows7.As stated, there is a FREE from Microsoft an XP-MODE for Windows7 Package that you can do it on. What's the problem with that? Get it, Install It, Run the Installed XP (a Virtual PC running ON TOP OF Windows7), use IT to do the work you need done.THAT is your alternative. Take it or leave it. Sorry... (is your install NOT legit?) Edited April 28, 2011 by submix8c
