sorry for confusing you with the topic title, but how would you have phrased it?

and yeah, i know it is'nt important to know, but i was just wondering

Windows 7 setup stages, what do they each mean?

Posted (edited)

About the installation process stages:

When we install Windows 7 on a computer, Windows:

1) Copy files inside temp folders: $Windows.~BT (boot.wim) and $Windows.~LS (install.wim)

2) The files are expanded

3) Features are installed

4) Updates are installed

5) Completting Installation

This is done at first for boot.wim and after for install.wim

When the installation is finish the temp folders are removed.

If you have created $OEM$ folder inside your Media, this one is copied at first inside $Windows.~BT

Copying Windows Files - if u do update its will backup ur stuff

Expanding Windows Files open - open install.wim to ur hdd

Installing Features - finishing configuring the features u enabled or been enabled

Installing updates - oem updates

Completing Installation - detect drivers
