Jadestar Posted January 25, 2010 Posted January 25, 2010 Ok so I attempted to do this install using the winpe3.0 method that is stickied in this forum.Ran into the following issues.Windows wasnt installed to harddrive. Trying to boot from it just says there is no OS.Looked at the flash drive and there were those win BT and Win NT folders and a boot.ini and some other folders? Not sure why anything was written to the flash drive...doesnt make any sense. So I attempt to boot to the flash drive again and it takes me to windows xp txt setup...huh? ..thought that was the point of diskpart.Removed the temp (or whatever) windows xp files that were added from this whole blow up and now my stick no longer boots WinPE..what in the heck did i do wrong herethanks

wimb Posted January 26, 2010 Posted January 26, 2010 (edited) Follow the method described here using USB_XP_Setup.exe of U_XP_SET package http://www.msfn.org/board/install-usb-afte...06-page-20.html - Post #32It will give you better control on what is going to occur.Step 9. Install of XP or Windows 7 AFTER booting with pe3.isoIf your Setup Source is an ISO file, then first install ImDisk driver so that you can mount the ISO in a virtual drive. Run imdiskinst.exe from U_XP_SET\USB_XP_Setup\makebt folder to install ImDisk driver. Then with R-mouse on the ISO file you can use the ImDisk context menu to mount the ISO in a Virtual Drive. If your Setup Source is a folder on HDD or USB or a CD/DVD drive then you don't need to use ImDisk.Launch USB_XP_Setup.exe from PStart Menu to prepare your Target drive for Install of XP.Info USB_XP_Setup.exe of U_XP_SET package http://www.911cd.net/forums//index.php?showtopic=21883http://www.911cd.net/forums//index.php?sho...mp;#entry161011 Edited January 26, 2010 by wimb
