I restarted the process and looked at the file Se7en_UA.ini and it is empty and remains empty all the way through and including when I hit any key to continue on to second stage where it mounts the wim file. The file is time stamped 11-27-09 and remains 0 bytes in size. I opened the file to make sure and sure enough it is empty.

What I did to get a file was installed the app to a different folder and deleted the existing Se7en_UA.ini and the app created a new one which I attached.

I am running windows XP and I am trying to build a windows 7 DVD. I also installed waiK because I thought it might help.

It dos not write to the ini. At anytime if you delete the ini and restart the Se7en_UA it will re-create the ini as a troubleshooting tool with sensitive data removed.

Uninstall and reinstall and place on root of any drive.

Your AppPath=C:\Win7\ where it should be AppPath=D:\Se7en_UA\ or C:\Se7en_UA\

Applications=D:\Storage\XP\winxp\Software should be simply D:\APPS

EDIT: noticed this on your applications also

[Apps]

1=D:\Storage\XP\winxp\Software\Off2k7

2=D:\Storage\XP\winxp\Software\Firefox

Place applications folders directly in the APPS folder

1=D:\APPS\Off2k7

2=D:\APPS\Firefox

This is so the Se7en_UA will find the APPS folder on any drive it's on.

You can store everything else within the APPS folder if you want so only 1 place to backup

Make sure you copy an extracted iso or a dvd

I experimented and ran this latest from XP yesterday

I got everything to work except the computer name as well as the apps to load automatically. I am attaching my files. I am placing the apps on the c:\apps directory, but I get an error that they were not found during the win7 installation. Can you check these files to see if you see any goof ups? I removed the key for obvious reasons. Thanks in advance.

Here is my appswitch file as well. I am placing all necessary apps in c:\apps\subdirectory for each application. Am I entering the entries incorrectly? Do I need to add the subdirectory for each application as it is in the c:\apps directory? Also do I need a different designation if I want them to install from the DVD ? You select the APPS 1 at a time and it will copy it in to uaDVD\APPS folder as sub folders. Setup will run off the Dvd then.

EDIT: If you have the APPS on D: drive when setup runs and it see's that, it will allow you to run it from there since it run's faster from hard drive

With XP we see that many Services are not installed(Blue) since this reads yor reg for the target services, MS has bloated this quite a bit. I counted about 145

If you know which services you want to disable then your ok otherwise use the Safe, Tweaked, Bare Bones for a guideline

How do you force the install from DVD ? I would like to install the apps from DVD and not the hard drive ? The assumption here is that my drive/partition will be clean when I do the install. Thanks in advance for your help.

The Apps are copied to dvd what maxx is saying is if you were installing to say your own machine and you had the apps on dvd and another partition or drive you can select from where you want to install from.

they get copied ok

but i look on the iso and they are not there also i cant find any of the fistlogon.cmd cleanup.cmd

where are they or is it magic

not magic I just put them where they need to be inside the wim

Install folder will be on the root \Install where it is placed on root of target drive. fistlogon.cmd cleanup.cmd are inside that folder

The rest I place where they need to go like

$oem$\$$\Setup\Scripts\setupcomplete.cmd will be placed in \Windows\Setup

$oem$\$$\Web\Wallpaper will be placed in \Windows\Web\Wallpaper

Drivers to \Drivers and placed on target OS root or if inject can delete them.

I've just found that doing them this way, MY Stuff works which is what you or I want it to do...

7 Search sucks as usual which slowed me down quite a bit so I went back to my old friend Pdfind

uploaded my fix to my Se7en/Vista Unattended DVD XML link below

why can't MS provide a decent file/ content search after this many years? buy out Ontrack PowerDesk and use their stuff.
