Kb956391 doesn't install properly with 1.7.9 beta c

Featured Replies

I have tested this quite a few times to isolate the problem. This update will not get applied correctly. However using an optional update that allows you to run QFECHECK shows that it is installed, but MS update still shows it as an available update. Tried using NoKillBits parameter in HFANSWER which still doesn't work. Not sure why it's not applying. I see in the script that it should add in the reg key that supposodely makes this happen, but it's still coming ip for me.

I'm using XP SP3 volume license version.

Also, add kb905474 to your update list, which is WGA notifications.

Thanks,

Jason

Internet explorer may be the cause for this, it has to do with this reg key being different in Kb956391 but its not being taken because IE.INF gets executed much after Optional Componets

HKLM,"Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\ActiveX Compatibility\{0002E510-0000-0000-C000-000000000046}","Compatibility Flags",0x00010001,00,00,04,00

Feel like testing a test hfslip script out? Hopefully it fixes that issue. Please report back your results. Thanks in advance for your help.

edit - posted the beta on the beta thread.

Tested and verify it works perfect. Don't have to set NoKillBits either. It works with and without NoKillBits set. Thanks for that script.

Thanks for testing. Looks like we'll have a new beta. I'll post it up in the beta thread later on today.

No problem. Anytime. I have plenty of test machines and I can control them via vpn from my work.

Also, don't forget to add kb905474 to the xp update list.
