Smiley357 Posted October 17, 2008 Posted October 17, 2008 (edited) I was looking for some guidance on how to duel boot XP and server 2008. I appreciate all help. Thanks-edit-I should have explained a little more. I have 2 HD. C and D. C I installed server 2008 first and D I installed XP 2nd. I have read that you need to install XP first b/c it will override the MBR. Is there any way to just fix the MBR so it gives the option of what OS to boot when starting the computer or do I have to reinstall server 2008?Thanks again for any help. PC_LOAD_LETTER Posted October 28, 2008 Posted October 28, 2008 duel bootI know thats a typo but it usually turns out being the reason I dont Dual boot.
FthrJACK Posted October 28, 2008 Posted October 28, 2008 Id just enable Hyper V.... and use XP as a guest, saves rebooting then when you want to switch between OS's. Plus you can run both at the same time...With virtualisation, i dont see the point in dual booting really.
Holzmichi Posted November 4, 2008 Posted November 4, 2008 Yesterday i installed XP Pro SP3 and Server 2008.Choosing the OS works, if u install XP first, and then server. Server checks if theres another installation of windowsand gives u an option for choosing which os u want to start. For me it looks like:- Old version of Windows- Windows Server 2008
