No, you do NOT need SP1, you can slipstream on gold XP CD.

Cheers ;)

Hiya. So this is similar to a question of mine that I asked on http://www.msfn.org/board/nLite-f89.html.

From what I've read on the Microsoft sites and news sites, SP3 can only be installed ontop of SP1, nothing below it. Download the Windows XP Service Pack 3 Overview (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=68C48DAD-BC34-40BE-8D85-6BB4F56F5110&displaylang=en#filelist) and go down to Deployment and the info backs me up.

So is it true that we can slipstream SP3 onto a WinXP that has no service packs installed? Can anyone else confirm this?

I can. cluberti has also confirmed this numerous times. Service packs contain all previous hotfixes/changes/updates to the OS, so you can definitely slipstream them into RTM media.

Just an FYI...

Don't slipstream SP3 into XP in vista... weird things happen.

I was slipstreaming it into our corp xp cd on vista and our VLK wasn't working when i was trying an install.

Another proof that Vi$ta is inferior (or someone else would say sucks).
