Ioryo Posted November 20, 2007 Posted November 20, 2007 I removed windows media player from my winxp cd and burned the image into a new cd, but now that I installed windows without wmp I can't run some games because they ask for some dll files, I tried installing wmp again (version 9, 10 and 11) but the installer says the version is not compatible with my os (wtf?)Is there any way to add wmp back again to the winxp cd with nlite?
boooggy Posted November 20, 2007 Posted November 20, 2007 unfortunatelly no...there are too many files that u need to add and too complicated.....u have to start all over......
mitsukai Posted November 20, 2007 Posted November 20, 2007 as far as i know WMP11 can isntall with wmp removed... so idont know why it says you have the wrong os? (did u edit registery items regarding win ver?)also it might be a codec problem.as for to complicated this is not true. u can use a dependency walker to see what DLL's it needs and are missing.
Kelsenellenelvian Posted November 21, 2007 Posted November 21, 2007 Maybe, just MAYBE you could get it working ONLY if you didn't remove the whole thing (the 6.4 part too)But Boooogy is the resident EXPERT on WMP and he knows what he is talking about...
mitsukai Posted November 21, 2007 Posted November 21, 2007 WMP11 installs without WMP, WMP6.4 and compatibility patch
Kelsenellenelvian Posted November 22, 2007 Posted November 22, 2007 So the tell us how if you know this. Please prove yourself.
aviv00 Posted November 22, 2007 Posted November 22, 2007 try the add-on ver of wmp11maybe its will work who knows good luck
bledd Posted November 22, 2007 Posted November 22, 2007 try wmlite10 from here http://ksphere.free.fr/site/codecspackage.phpshould install ok, then you might be able to install 11 on top
mitsukai Posted November 22, 2007 Posted November 22, 2007 So the tell us how if you know this. Please prove yourself.try it yourselve and see
Kelsenellenelvian Posted November 24, 2007 Posted November 24, 2007 So the tell us how if you know this. Please prove yourself.try it yourselve and seeAlright smart a** you couldn't prove yourself so I did try and see: Attached last session file you can see I removed all 3 components and just like we said WMP 11 DOES NOT INSTALL!NOW quit giving false advice unless you can prove your self...
mitsukai Posted November 24, 2007 Posted November 24, 2007 i can see your problem there. I have xp from 2002 and it works fine.
Kelsenellenelvian Posted November 24, 2007 Posted November 24, 2007 No such thing unless you mean without service packs.
mitsukai Posted November 24, 2007 Posted November 24, 2007 okay now that i think about it..i did not try an install with only wmp removed.it might be possible that the K-Lite Mega Codec Pack is installing WMP codec so that WMP11 installs.kell maybe u could try installing K-Lite Mega Codec Pack and than WMP11 see if it works.if this not works than this is a windows xp version issue as i stated before.
mitsukai Posted November 24, 2007 Posted November 24, 2007 no such thing? are u sure?http://www.mac-pro.com/Microsoft-Windows-X...mp;category=109
