Hey Guys, I finally did enough Over-Time to get me a New LCD for the system I am building. I know there are a lot of brands out there. I am a person who is not a Hard-Core Gamer, but I do play games. I just wanted to get your guys opinion on which LCD is best for me, With your recommendations I can check out the LCDs and make my decision. Below is the Specs about me.

My budget is between $200 - $350 ($400 Maybe)

Size I am looking at 22" and (Maybe be 24" If the price is right)

Really Good Brand (I do like Samsung and Dell LCDs)

I don't need alot of Ports, Just the Basic Stuff (DVI and whatever else I will get)

So there you have it. This is what I am looking for. If you guys have more recommendations, Please share them with me and Please help me get a really good LCD.

Once Again Thank You for all your help! :thumbup

P.S. Fusion :hello:

When looking at Dell monitors don't look at anything but the UltraSharp line. Up until a few weeks ago the smallest widescreen UltraSharp you could get was the 24" 2407WFP...and that's way out of your budget. They just came out with the 20" 2007WFP though. The contrast ratio could maybe be a little higher...but then again, it has a higher contrast ratio than the Samsung 226BW that ripken mentioned. And it's within your budget.

The Samsung 226BW would be an excellent choice as well. It definitely appears to have the better response time (different manufacturers measure them differently...even between their own product lines sometimes). The only thing I don't like about Samsung LCDs is their pixel defect warranty. For 21-24" monitors they'll only replace it under warranty if you have 17 or more bad pixels.

Dell's pixel policy is 6 or more. Or if two adjacent pixels are bad. Another thing...Dell's monitor comes with 3 years warranty with 3 years advanced exchange. With the advanced exchange policy, if you have to get a new monitor under warranty, they send you the new monitor before you have to send the broken one back. That's an awesome policy that can't be overlooked.

Those are just some things that you need to look into.

Edit: Missed the specs on the 226cw. It has a better contrast ratio than the 226bw (don't look at the DC...or dynamic...numbers).

Al Right guys, here is the list that I have come up with. Tell me your opinions on these LCDs. In which order I should I buy!

Dell E228WFP 22-inch Widescreen Flat Panel LCD Monitor (THx for The Info On Dell 20" 2007WFP)

Gateway FPD2275W 22" Widescreen High-Definition LCD Flat-Panel Display

HP w2207 22-inch Widescreen Flat-Panel Monitor

SAMSUNG’s 226BW Or 226CW widescreen LCD monitor

ViewSonic's 22" VX2245wm ViewDock™ LCD

Acer AL2251W WIde-Screen LCD Display

Thx

I would say in this order:

1 - SAMSUNG’s 226BW Or 226CW widescreen LCD monitor

As you read ripken204´s post above, this can´t be a bad choise altough nmX.Memnoch pointed at a good thing (or let´s say bad thing) about the waranty. But that part can be covered by the shop you buy it in. Some shops take responsibility when there are to much pixels "broken", like more then 5.

2 - Acer AL2251W WIde-Screen LCD Display

Shares the second place with Dell. Acer screens have almost no "broken" pixels, at least less then other brands. The price is right; they are cheap but give you good quality in every way.

2 - Dell E228WFP 22-inch Widescreen Flat Panel LCD Monitor (THx for The Info On Dell 20" 2007WFP)

Like nmX.Memnoch cleared, they have good waranty in The States. On the inside it should be the same screen as Samsung just with an other design and diferent factory settings.

3 - HP w2207 22-inch Widescreen Flat-Panel Monitor

The new line of HP, nice design and has a pivot at the back of the screen so it can be rotated.

4 - Gateway FPD2275W 22" Widescreen High-Definition LCD Flat-Panel Display

can´t say much about this one, I personaly don´t like products from gateway, like there laptops, so I hope some one else could judge about this screen...

5 - ViewSonic's 22" VX2245wm ViewDock™ LCD

This screen could be nice only when you have an i-POD. The image quality isn´t as good as the other screens in this list.

Let´s see what others have to say :).

Hey Guys, after looking around, I have narrowed my list on my LCD's. Here is the list and tell me what you guys think.

First Choice is - SAMSUNG’s 226BW Or 226CW Widescreen Flat-Panel Monitor (REviews Done Ready to buy)

Second Choice is - ViewSonic's 22" VX2245wm ViewDock™ LCD or ViewSonic's 22" VX2235wm widescreen LCD

Third Choice is - Asus PG221 (I guess it just came out and I don't see the price of this yet. Look Really cool and I know it nothing compared to the samsung 226BW. But I do really like the way it looks and the ADD-Ons.) What's your guys opinion on this Asus PG221 LCD!

THX for all the input!

Be fore you make your choice, consider this:

The pixel pitch of any 22" is greater than a 20". So your 22" will look fuzzier than a 20" at the same resolution (1680X1050).

The 24" on the other hand should have the same pixel pitch as a 20" but it's standard resolution is much more, so you need more video horsepower to run it.

(pixel pitch = distance between each same colored pixel. The bigger it is. the fuzzier the image is.)

That's part of the reason i chose a 20". The image quality looked better. So my choice was a Viewsonic VG2030WM (1680X1050) 5MS. Good price too.

The only negative aspect about this monitor was some bleeding around the edges, but i dont really see it anymore. The speakers are a bit on the cheapo side, then again i don't really mind because most of my gaming is wearing headphones. Almost 9 months now without any problems.

That's why I specifically mentioned the Dell 20". It's also why you don't see Dell offering a 22" in the UltraSharp line...you can't get the same clarity because of the native resolution of 22" panels (20" and 22" both use 1680x1050). I honestly think his best bet is going to be the Dell UltraSharp 2007WFP.

I don't recommend ViewSonic monitors anymore. Their quality control has gone down hill in the last 5 years or so. I have a friend who purchase one of their CRTs some years ago. The first one had a crack in the casing. He replaced it under warranty...replacement had a crack in the casing (different place so it was a "new" monitor). Replaced it again...you guessed it, 3rd one had a crack in the casing. He kept the 3rd one and it ended up going bad about 2 years later (colors seperated like someone held a magnet up to it for long periods of time). That's just one example...

I advice for people who´s eyes are not 100% any more to use 22" wide-screens or a 19" ((4:3) or 1280*1024) screen.

But that model from Viewsonic is not one I would pick indeed, it´s just the cheapest screen you can find with an i-POD base and some bigger speakers.

No problems here with Viewsonic, just stay away from the Optiquest series, for the same price you can get a better ACER screen.

Hey Guys I have made my FINAL Choice on LCD and I am gona go with the Samsung 226BW. I have read alot of reveiws on it and it is a really good LCD. I only have one question when I buy it either online or instore how do I get The "S" Panel. I have heard a lot about this subject. One of the reviews I read said that make sure you get the "S" Planel and not some other. How do I know which Panel I am getting. So if someone can help me out, I would like to order this LCD ASAP.

I just wanted your guys opinion, Should I get the Samsung 226BW or Wait for the 226CW Model? Any BIG differences between the too?

Once again I wanted to say Thank You for all your guys help.

well if you order online its all random for the 226BW models. and now the only way to check the model is to open up the lcd casing.. samsung took out all methods of finding the panel version. i would just wait for the 226CW. it is at best buy right now so if you want to pay a little more and get it there, then do it.

http://www.samsung.com/ca/products/monitor...22mexsfvxaa.asp

the main difference is the Wide Color Gamut (CCFL 97%)

it will also be a samsung panel
