This is a general problem with the Windows/Microsoft Update site which also occurs when installing KB933360 by hand.

Temporary fix:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Time Zones]

"TZVersion"=dword:00000002

But when WU and MU are finally updated, you'll have to change it back to:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Time Zones]

"TZVersion"=dword:00000003

For Japanese you need 1.6.2 or newer. For other supported languages you need 1.4.0 or newer.

Also, Windows Update doesn't complain anymore. They have finally updated it to support the 3rd time zone update.

Using LANDesk to look for "Vulnerabilities" and it is flagging KB933360 not being installed. It's checking both Registry (KB933360 key under unininstall) AND that TZCHANGE.EXE (version 5.1.2600.3180) exists.

Windows Updates doesn't complain.

tzchange.exe is a utility to install or update time zones, but it isn't needed here because every time zone update (every registry edit) is hard-coded in this package.

Just drop the file in HFEXPERT\WIN\SYSTEM32 if you want to keep LANDesk happy...

Using LANDesk to look for "Vulnerabilities" and it is flagging KB933360 not being installed. It's checking both Registry (KB933360 key under unininstall) AND that TZCHANGE.EXE (version 5.1.2600.3180) exists.

That file is now part of the package and will be slipstreamed if the OS is Windows XP or Windows Server 2003. There are two versions present (one for XP and another for 2K3); the correct one is selected automatically.

I wish there was a tool which can convert the strings in localized versions which got lost in the ANSI export back to Unicode LE. I already tried a few programs but none could do it.
