Squeeto Posted June 27, 2007 Posted June 27, 2007 How do you get 256colour tray iconsWhen I was running 2000 sp4, I modified explorer.exe: explorer.exe @ 88EE from 01 to 19, to show 256 color icons in your tray modifype explorer.exe -c makecab explorer.exe and put in the FIX directoryProbably easier ways to do this now though.
Oleg_II Posted June 27, 2007 Posted June 27, 2007 Special version of msconfig.exe for W2k found somewhere on the net.Place in hfslip\HFEXPERT\win\system32.msconfig.zip
tommyp Posted June 27, 2007 Posted June 27, 2007 Use Oleg2's method because it will modifype it automatically and add it to your setup files. In virgin form, w2k does not have msconfig, so if you put it into fix, it won't copy over.
Tomcat76 Posted June 27, 2007 Posted June 27, 2007 @OlegI'm using the latest version that's available for Windows XP. What is the difference with the one you attached?
dirtwarrior Posted June 27, 2007 Author Posted June 27, 2007 OK you know while booting windows 2000 it says something about network settings. Is there a way to take that boot delay out?
Oleg_II Posted June 28, 2007 Posted June 28, 2007 (edited) @Tomcat76Frankly speaking I don't know I found this file a lo-o-ong time ago. There was the same question and somebody recommended this version. Maybe that time it was impossible to use XP version on W2k?That file version is 5.1.2499.0.The file version from XP SP2 is 5.1.2600.2180.dirtwarriorYour network settings are initialized. You may set DHCP Client, Telephony, Wireless Zero Configuration and maybe some other network services to manual start. That may speed up loading. But you will have to start the services before you connect to Internet Edited June 28, 2007 by Oleg_II
