  1. THERE'S lucky: Finding a diamond when you're a young miner sweating it out in the west African forests of Guinea. And then there's too lucky: finding a 182-carat stone that everyone - starting with the government of Guinea - wants a piece of. Result: the stone, four times the size of the famous Hope diamond, was tucked away today deep in the vaults of Guinea's Central Bank. No pictures, please. http://news.com.au/common/story_page/0,405...5^13762,00.html
  2. Here's a fun game... First, look up the most popular and critically-acclaimed books, movies, and music on Amazon. Click on "Customer Reviews," and sort them by "Lowest Rating First." Hilarity ensues! It's the Amazon.com Knee-Jerk Contrarian Game! http://www.waxy.org/archive/2004/07/01/amazonco.shtml
  3. I remember defeating Mother Brain in Metroid for the first time. All of a sudden everything starts shaking and I sat there watching it. It took me a few seconds to notice the timer running backwards. I grabbed the remote off the floor and started screaming at the TV. I was afraid of losing the game AFTER defeating the final boss. What a shock that was!
  4. I haven't seen it. I probably won't. It's not because of the subject matter, it's because of the director. I don't trust Moore. If this movie falls in line with your views on Bush or America, you will not question it. If this movie does not fall in line with you views on Bush or America, you will not believe it. Plain and simple, integrity is dead. What is right and what is wrong has given way to how can I make myself look right and others wrong.
  5. (This was too weird to post on the front page, but too weird to ignore) Microsoft can roll out countless studies that point out how proprietary software is cheaper and more practical than open source code. But how can Microsoft counter open source software's ability to make a Japanese woman give birth to a horse in a convenience store? That's the question being raised by Japanese software pioneer SourceNext. The company has launched an astonishing advertising campaign featuring a horse, famous actress Norika Fujiwara and a couple of Slurpee slingers to promote StarSuite - Sun Microsystems' Japanese Office knock off based on the open source OpenOffice. In one television ad, Fujiwara is so overcome by the $18 StarSuite price tag that she pops out a foal near the magazine rack of a corner store. 8. You have the wrong patch. The first patch listed is for DirectX7. Scroll towards the bottom and you'll see the patch for DirectX 9. If covers both Windows 2000 and Windows XP. I spent a good portion of last night figuring that out! The patch name will start with 'DirectX9'. I put that patch in SVC-HF1 and everything works fine for XP Pro and 2K Pro. EDIT: You can get the patch here: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...&displaylang=en
  9. Do you have access to another computer? You could build a BartPE disc and delete the SAM file. This will leave you with a blank Admin password.
  10. 1.Do you think that it should be legal to download your media that you bought but own. (Music and Videos and Software?) Yes. I believe its in the spirit of the FairUse Act. 2.What type of media do you commonly download? Videos, usually. I'll occasionally go after a one-hit wonder from the 80's. 3.Do feel that the government should stay involved in it or should the use their resources to try to crack down on piracy? I feel the government should be involved in protecting its citizens from the billion dollar mob. 4.Are P2P networks to blame for the lack in sales in the media industry? No. Record sales increased every year and continued to break sales records from 1995 - 2000. MP2s and MP3s were available during this time period. Granted, in '95 few people heard of MP3 (and fewer heard of MP2s). The late 90's saw the rise of Napster. Even with 40 million users, records sales continued to climb. The problem is that Top 40 model is failing and the economy is weak. RIAA got used to breaking sales records, and now believes its their God given right to do so yearly. Failure to break the current sales record indiccates a 'loss'. Then there's the are the people, such as myself, who have finished converting all their records and tapes to CD. My purchases helped over-inflate the music sales numbers. Since modern music is so poor, my money stays in my wallet. 5.If you were a famous artist would it make you mad if people where “stealing” your work? No. Stealing is when someone takes a physical object from me. I would no longer have it to enjoy or sell. Since MP3s do not cause CDs to disappear from store shelves, the disc remains available for sale. Also, a downloaded MP3 does not indicate a lost sale. There's is no way to look at a data stream and determine if the person has this song in their archive of music or if they would have bothered to purchase the song for any amount of money. 6. Any other comments? I think the way RIAA and the US government are acting shows just how corrupt government is. Take note, both Democrats and Republicans are happily joining this turd-fest. Look up Fritz Hollings. He's the Democrat that wanted to give RIAA the right to hack into traders computers and delete files and sharing services. Fritz has been the loudest mouthpiece. There are Republicans in the mix too. Greed extends across all party lines.

So I guess this means I should stop trying to find solutions for the old "2kcreate" and IE? As usual, I'm in your debt. Thanks GreenMachine!
  14. What a long and amazing life he lived. Rest in peace.
  15. I think the only thing this kid will learn is to glue the ps2 to the floor.
  16. Sounds like the bott sector died. Boot off the CD and choose the recovery console option. I believe the option to rebuild the boot sector is 'bootfix'. EDIT: might want to run 'fixmbr' as well.
