"THE first true colour image of Saturn reveals that the ringed planet is not the silver orb visible from Earth but a deep shade of blue." Full Story with picture: http://www.news.com.au/story/0,10117,12202144-38198,00.html

Does this mean there's a new version on the way or are you migrating servers?

Thanks a lot, but v5.windowsupdate.microsoft.com/v5consumer/V5Controls/fr/x86/client/wuweb_site.cab does not seem to exist Should I take the English one? Furthermore, does eng mean English en wuaueng.cab and wuaueng1.cab? Figures it wouldn't be that easy... I was able to find the correct cabs and their locations by installing a new copy of XP on my test machine and installing the updates from the V5 site. Once the updates are downloaded they're stored in your Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files along with the address of where they came from. Give that a shot.

I threw together a quick and sloppy command file to download and compress all the files needed to use the v5.windowsupdate.microsoft.com without having to accept the updated activex controls or download any other updates. Hopefully this makes sense. The RedBull is wearing off... 1. If EXTRACT.EXE isn't installed on your computer you'll need to download, install and copy extract.exe to one of your path directories or to the same directory as XPCREATE. You can get extract.exe from here. 2. Download the attached file (wucabs.cmd) and place it in the same directory as XPCREATE. 3. Run wucabs.cmd. wucabs.cmd uses download.exe to grab the cab files for you. 4. Open the wucabs folder and you'll find a folder called Add_To_I386. Copy the files from that folder and place them in FILESCD/I386. Do not copy the folder itself. That's it. There's no need to add anything to dosnet.inf. Most of these links are language and platform specific. You'll need to adust the download links if you're not using the English version of Windows or if you're running XP64. wucabs.cmd

I've updated the list. Things are kinda busy around here so I wasn't able to update the list as fast as I would have liked. * The Malware Tool won't install correctly (KB890830). You'll have to repackage the update or leave it out. * The .Net update (starts with NDP) goes in SVC-MSX. * All other updates go in SVC-HF1.

The iso that XPCREATE builds is compatible with both CD and DVD media. You don't have to do anything special.

You could always use one of these: I still have my Fast Load cartridge. It's sitting on my 300 baud modem!

Jim Carrey wasn't very good in standup. The guy is funny to watch but his act doesn't hold up well without the visuals. What I want to know is how this list got so long without one mention of Dave Chappelle...

Would you post the key you exported? All of the settings you need to activate and set Automatic Updates are in the key prathapml had you export. The board might be better able to help you.

The best advice I can give you is to simply relax. If you look too nervous or tense you might scare the employer. Working in IT you're going to constantly run into unexpected things. If you respond to stress by sweating, shaking, laughing and then collapsing you're most likely not going to get the job. Yes, this is easier said than done. It does take work. I've actually applied to jobs I didn't intend on taking simply to get the experience on interviewing. Any questions they ask will be related to the employers enviornment. If they use RIS, they'll ask you about creating images for RIS. If they use Active Directory, they'll ask you about policy creation. They'll also ask about your past employment/academic experiences with the technologies they're interested in. Don't lie or bluff your way through a question. If you don't know something then say so. If you're not sure then tell them that this is your understanding of how the technology works. At the end of the interview they'll always ask if you have any questions. Its best to have at least one question for them. It shows interest.

Place winnt.sif in FILESCD\I386

Try adding this to your regkey: "ScheduledInstallDay"=dword:00000000 "ScheduledInstallTime"=dword:00000003 "DetectionStartTime"="2000.02.19 19:56:44" "LastWaitTimeout"="2000.02.20 01:01:44" This tells Windows Updates to check for updates everyday at 3am. The DetectionStartTime and LastWaitTimeout were set to a random time in the past to trigger Windows Update to check immediately. You should be able to do this with a batch file. I have a batch file that runs from RunOnceEx that removes icons that I don't want from the desktop. I'm not sure, just make sure they're not in hex. Otherwise the lottery commision will think you were trying to vote for Pat Buchanan.

I think he's wandering around the streets, dazed that the Red Sox won the World Series.

I'm interested in the windows 2003 list since I'm setting this up at work. I would like a copy of what you have thus far and perhaps I can get it working. If I am able to get it working I will share it with others. Here's my list as of 12-31-04. I'm not sure if these patches are in the right folders either... Server_2003_STD_XPCTHLST.TXT

I left it in since I'm not sure if it would break anything within XPCREATE.

I was reading about the new iPod Shuffle and thought I'd pass along the little caveat at the bottom of the page to those of you who didn't read about the Shuffle on Apple's page. Consider yourself warned!

He kids you not. The EULA.TXT file is in the unextracted folder. GM knows people will look at it. He's not militant about it. He's simply asks that you respect his wishes. Why would he lose rights to his work if its archived with the work of others? Microsoft includes the work of others on their Windows CDs. GM can't assert any right over cdimage.exe, but xpcreate.cmd he can.

Here's a Firefox plugin for MSFN. Copy and paste the code into Notepad and save it as msfn.src. You'll also need to grab MSFN's favicon and convert it to a gif. Save the gif as msfn.gif. Close all open Firefox windows and then place both files in Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\searchplugins. Open Firefox and you'll see a search option for MSFN. <search version = "7.1" name="MSFN" description="MSFN Search" method="GET" searchForm="http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?act=Search&mode=adv&f=" action="http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?act=Search&mode=adv&f=" > <input name="&keywords" user> <input name="namesearch" value=""> <input name="forums" value="all"> <input name="searchsubs" value="1"> <input name="prune" value="0"> <input name="prune_type" value="newer"> <input name="sort_key" value="last_post"> <input name="sort_order" value="desc"> <input name="search_in" value="posts"> <input name="result_type" value="topics"> <input name="CODE" value="01"> </search> <browser update="http://localhost/msfn.src" updateIcon="http://localhost/msfn.png" updateCheckDays="3" > The browser part of the code was left incase xper wants to make an official plugin. Otherwise, don't worry about the localhost setting.

Here's my unofficial DLURL for the English version of Windows XP Pro: http://geocities.com/utln/XPCLISTS The Windows Media Connect is not included in the download because it cannot be installed without user interaction. Download GreenMachine's WMC.CMD to create an unattended version of Media Connect. Place the newly created installer into SVC-HF2. I created a Windows Server 2003 Standard list as well but haven't had but luck getting many of the updates to take. I'm not sure at this point if its an XPCREATE issue or an issue with my list. Updated Feb. 09, 2005 The February release of the Microsoft Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool is not included in the list. I wasn't able to get it to install using XPCREATE. According the help window the update now accepts /Q /T: /C and /C: switches (only /Q was supported in January), but still appears in Windows Update after being included in SVC-HF2.
