I'm running SP2 RC1 right now and it hasn't given me any problems...

Tell him you'll by him a six pack if he does away with the IM sounds.

You can also try XPCREATE. XPCREATE is capable of building a Win2k CD as well as a WinXP CD. The 2KCREATE thread covers all the gotchas you'll run into. This should allow you to create a CD for this weekend. If you're so inclined, you can always go back to your CD to try and figure out what went wrong when time allows. Good luck!
