Maybe your computer is booting to fast and the welcome screen is shown for only a blink of an eye...?
Actually I had the opposite problem: I didn't want the welcome screen, but automatically log-on.
This is what I used to solve my problem:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon]
"AutoAdminLogon"="1"
Maybe when using 0 instead of 1 you will get the welcome screen back??

When slipstreaming SP2 into XP, using nLite, drivers.cab and sp2.cab are merged.
So try nLite: http://nuhi.msfnhosting.com/ and http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showforum=89

You also have to enable the DVD-functionality, I believe.

Also, when running more upx'd files, it is possible that they actually slow down your system...

I believe, when run, upx'd files do decompress themselves in memory before starting, so they take more memory.
But less space on harddrive..

as long as you install Q831167 after Q832894 there shouldn't be any problems.
I believe it's best to install the patches in numerical order:
Q1,Q2,Q3 etc..

I just remade my winnt.sif with setupmgr.exe.
Two files were created:
winnt.sif -> I know that already
winnt.bat -> Never seen this before
