Use Dependency Walker on bitsadmin.exe to find out what other files it needs. Right off the bat, it needs: msvcrt.dll advapi32.dll kernel32.dll ole32.dll But then, each of the above also have their own dependencies. Make sure all of the required files are in your PE and use regsvr32 is needed?

Duel Boot problem Vista(x86) and XP Pro(x64)
Tripredacus replied to ChazZeromus's topic in Windows Vista
I don't believe you can redistribute these two files. -
All of your errors say it can't read the system event log. Not sure if these are the same: Error 15100: The resource loader failed to find MUI file http://pcsupport.about.com/od/findbyerrorm...15100_15199.htm Win32 Error Code: 0x00000262 {Invalid Service Callback Entrypoint} The %hs service is not written correctly. The stack pointer has been left in an inconsistent state. The callback entry point should be declared as WINAPI or STDCALL. Selecting OK will cause the service to continue operation. However, the service process may operate incorrectly. http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc231199.aspx Someone else came up with this solution http://www.pcreview.co.uk/forums/thread-1453729.php

I notice there are a couple I use that aren't listed in this entire thread. These can only be done with Vista Business and Ultimate, since they rely on using the Group Policy Object Editor. Account disabled after wake from sleep/hibernate when no password is used By default, Vista requires a password on resume/wake from hibernation. If you have a user account that does not have a password (not recommended) or need to use Vista in Factory or Audit mode for an extended period of time (like me) then you should disable this requirement. It is found here: Computer Configuration\Administrative Templates\System\Power Management\Sleep Settings\ Require a Password when the computer wakes (disable) Network share/access/transfer speed is very slow when accessing XP or 2003 servers/clients/shares This is caused by the Link Layer Topology Mapper. Vista puts a priority of mapping out the network over traversing it initially. If you are on a small network, this should not apply. If you are on a large network or a medium - large network with frequent changes, such as not always the same computers on it at all times, then this can severely degrade your experience. It is designed for use with a similarly configured Server 2008 to accept and respond to Vista. If you do not have a responder server, Vista will constantly try to figure it out on its own or keep sending discovers to get a response. Disabling this will return Vista's networking to how it was on XP or earlier. Computer Configuration\Administrative Templates\Network\Link Layer Topology Discovery\ Turn On Mapper I/O (LLTDIO) Driver (disable) Turn on Responder (RSPNDR) Driver (disable) Disabling these may also effect the Vista Network Map, not that I found that feature anything worth using anyways.

As being a former DJ I had a need for organized music as well. All of my MP3s are what I have on CD (or LP), but I do not organize them that way. It is because there are the same song on different CDs and also the same song with different actual labels on the CD or in CDDB. Right off the bat I name all songs as 'artist - title'.mp3. My music folder is like this: MUSIC -A --band1 --band2 --band3 -B --band1 -C -D etc. Having a good organizational method at the start is what helped me. Prenaming files is what stops me from having duplicates. I don't overly concern myself with the ID3 tags, although I will fix some occasionally.

I spent all day fixing up the old Ghostserver. We came to the conclusion that we needed a different drive enclosure. The one that was in there, for some reason, the rails weren't designed properly so the drives would move around in there. I took the whole thing apart, and found a 3 drive enclosure to use. I also had to replace the backplane on the single drive bay, which I used one from the old enclosure. That thing is hella dusty and my fingers were black by the time I was done. The motherboard, I found, is an Intel SE7501CW2 and it does NOT have any onboard SATA. So now I am using just 4 hard drives connected to the RAID card. The prospective outlook is: 80GB JBOD and 3x 400GB RAID5. Server 2008 is being installed on it now and hopefully there won't be any problems with it. It will be used to backup the Vistaserver because of its recent Ghost issues.

I am in this situation right now. I have a server with over 1TB of data that I need to start backing up. My solution was to build a backup server that will be copying files over the network. So in my case I matched HDD Space with equal HDD space, actually more.

probably because im a newbie at this and not familiar with those three. can you give me any more info on WDS or ALTRIS? WDS = Windows Deployment Services. There are a multitude of topics in this, the Vista and WinPE sections of this forum. Check the stickies. WDS goes hand in hand with WAIK or OPKT. Altiris (imo) is the greatest software invention to ever grace a corporate network. Unlike WDS, it isn't free (or free with your purchased Server license) but it is the most robust client management program I have ever used. I was very fond of it before it was purchased by Symantec, but afaik they haven't destroyed it. http://www.altiris.com/

Ran XP prod key update tool - now getting "activation period has
Tripredacus replied to 98Guy's topic in Windows XP
If you call the activation hot line and tell them EXACTLY these things you have posted here, they should activate it for you. I can say no more. -
Sort different directories , permanently? (date, alpha, size, etc.)

Or if you want to have some files always near the top of the list, I use an underscore ( _ ) and if near the end of the list I use ( z_ ) prefixes. -
Sometimes games are picky about wanting to run. Some games try to run on anything, while other will check for file versions or supported hardware before trying to open. One example of checking hardware is Oblivion, which only checks your video card against the supported card list. If your card is there then it will open. It doesn't matter if the game will actually run properly or not. If you card isn't there then (if you are lucky) it will tell you that you can't run it. But some developers are slackers and maybe the game just errors our wakes up Dr Watson instead. So video card detection can be a blessing or a bane for you. Another example is that Crysis will actually open and play on my computer even though it is way outdated because my video card is supported, and that is the only thing Crysis checks before attempting to run. When I say that Crysis works, you must know I put it all on the lowest settings and it takes an hour to load into the level where you can actually do something. I remember going to make dinner while waiting for the cutscene to play because it doesn't work right, but the actual gameplay part was fine. So you might want to see if you can pick up a cheap video card to stick in your computer, an ATI or nVidia that is DirectX 9.0c compliant. Most games only check the video card, very few check the CPU or RAM.

Would you believe "cheat codes" for Minesweeper?
Tripredacus replied to LS_Dragons's topic in Gamers Hangout
I don't know... I don't think Minesweeper is hard enough to warrant using cheats. Its like that Freecell cheat lol. -
star war empire at war gamespeed is slow
Tripredacus replied to starcraftmaster's topic in Gamers Hangout
Your computer is below system requirements, that is if you are using the same computer that you have already posted about upgrading. Minimum CPU speed is 1GHz, I believe you posted your CPU is 800MHz. This may have something to do with it. -

Unable to access a networked computer.
Tripredacus replied to cdavid's topic in Networks and the Internet
You can try to enable the Guest account on Windows 2000. Also found this idea on another place: http://my.brandeis.edu/bboard/q-and-a-fetc...g?msg_id=0001S8 -
Actually... as of version 9.5.1, Vista and Server 2008 are supported on all 3ware 9650SE cards. http://www.3ware.com/KB/article.aspx?id=14928 It is unfortunate at least for 3ware that they bury their 2008 support info in their site, and its not really on their card info pages. We use the 9650 here in our 2008 servers and have no problem. I should also note that while the 9550 is not (and won't ever be) supported in 2008, it works perfectly fine with the default drivers. As far as the slot goes, most motherboards with a PCI-Express x16 slot is autonegotiated. Meaning they will go to a thinner bandwidth depending on which type of card it detects is plugged into it. Be warned, however! Not all boards or cards support this ability! For example, Creative's first PCI-E 1x card would NOT work in a x16 slot as it only supported auto negotiate up to x8. I found this out the hard way. The money situation, yes I wouldn't think I would want to spend so much for a RAID card. There are cheaper alternatives. Add in the confusion of matching the firmware and software versions, where the numbers don't really match up. I let someone else do that part for me. I will admit that the 3ware cards we've used are very stable. On our oldest computer it still has a 3ware card that survived longer than 2 of the hard drives attached to it.

Program to temporarily disable screensaver/hibernate/sleep?
Tripredacus replied to expert01's topic in Software Hangout
You could apply different GPOs, since all of the things you have listed are located there under Administrative Templates\System\Power Management or so. -
Do you get errors when trying to run it? Are you using x86 or x64 WinPE? Which WinPE version are you using?
-
You need to do a registry import that puts in that the EULA was accepted for the SID Changer, or else it won't be unattended. You can info on how to do that on MS or technet forums, which was where I found it. Here is a line from one of my batch files: newsid /a /n http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinte...s/bb897418.aspx

That is definately an interesting read. Unfortunately, we won't be supporting XP long enough to warrant me to try out this method.

While FTP is an option, you can also set up IIS and disable the default index page option. Then just secure your root with the .htaccess file and you are all set. This would use port 80 (http or https) instead of 21 (FTP).

You have failed to mention the operating system on the server where the database is stored. I am not sure if any of the following information is relevant: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms143432.aspx Basically I am thinking that the server is in fact fine, that the client is being rejected. You may wish to check on the server for any errors regarding credentials, authentication or connections in relation to MSSQL. I am thinking that you may be reaching a connection limit on the server, whether with MSSQL or another service.

I am not aware of such a feature or tool. That would be nice, as I like docs, programs/patches and images sorted and displayed differently as well. -
Context menu - Move "Rename" away from "Delete"
Tripredacus replied to emarkay's topic in Windows XP
I know what you mean. I wish I could remove some items from Firefox's context menu as well. I always end up accidently emailing things to people, which is bad because my computer gets all retarded because I don't have any email clients installed.
