  1. Hi, I just updated someone’s old Compaq from 98SE to 2000. This went well, but the new OE6 is devoid of address book, dbx files, and account settings. Before I up-dated, I cloned the disk over to a spare, so nothing is gone permanently. I can grab the .dbx, and .wab files fine, but I need to have a way to get the account settings, and import them into the new 2000. I know that in XP we can export a certain .reg value and merge it into the new box, and the account settings will be established. Does anyone know how I can grab 98SE’s settings and merge them into 2000 (from my static cloned drive? Thanks for any help. Packrat1947
  2. I have a Compaq 900mHz with a fresh 98 SE and the SP service pack. I notice that HD light never goes off. The heads are not accessing, and even in safe mode the light is steady on. It flickers normally when it is reading and writing though. Anyone have any ideas here? I also have a Win ME hard drive, and it does not display this behavior, so I can rule out anything in the BIOS. Thanks for any help. Ron N.
  3. Hello, I just used the recovery CDs to get an old Compaq 900 mHz up and running. Is there any good reason not to upgrade to IE and OE 6 versions? Does 98 SE take a big performance hit by the upgrade. Just wondering. This box has 512 meg of ram and plenty of HD space. I tried to import my O-E6 address book and messages, but it was a no-go. Sincerely, Ron N.
