Packrat1947
Hi,I just updated someone’s old Compaq from 98SE to 2000. This went well, but the new OE6 is devoid of address book, dbx files, and account settings. Before I up-dated, I cloned the disk over to a spare, so nothing is gone permanently.I can grab the .dbx, and .wab files fine, but I need to have a way to get the account settings, and import them into the new 2000. I know that in XP we can export a certain .reg value and merge it into the new box, and the account settings will be established.Does anyone know how I can grab 98SE’s settings and merge them into 2000 (from my static cloned drive? Thanks for any help.Packrat1947
submix8c
Go here for step-by-step instructions. Worked for me. http://www.iopus.com/guides/oe-backup.htmnote - may have to move the clone back to a spare disk on a spare computer and boot to it to get the original REG entries...scratch that - REG.EXE may allow you to get them from cloned DAT files - the registry - in DOS mode via Boot Floppy... read up on it.HTH Edited August 16, 2008 by submix8c
