  1. Very nice work Tihiy. And very fast fixed, please go work for Microsoft to fix their problems . Are you going to make a "standalone" win.com version or only integrated in your RP?
  2. Plug it in and test. If it works then that would be the easiest way. Just to plug in will not do. With Dos USB support it will work I think. See this link for drivers and howto: http://www.bootdisk.com/usb.htm.
  3. "- Does it display propertly? (describe your hardware)" When run under DOS-mode it displays ok. You don't mention this but I assume that it is not supposed to run under Windows or dosbox. And it doesn't . KT133pro,Duron1200,Radeon9600pro,Win98se "- Does it animates propertly?" Nope, still image, no closing. Machine needs to be reset. "- Do you like this kind of boot screen/animation? (DO NOT complain about picture, it sux i know)" I disabled the original Win98 logo, but in SVGA it's nice to put my own homebrew there when possible!
  4. /p j should do the trick, hope this works for you too. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/186111/en-us
  5. Foxit Reader, a great free and fast Adobe replacement uses it too. If you don't have it on your Win9x system pictures won't look good in it.
  6. Should be logo.sys in c:\ This is a 320 X 400 X 256 colors bitmap (BMP) file with .sys extension. You can edit it in Mspaint. In c:\windows\ you'll find logos.sys. This is the shutdown screen you can edit this one too if you ever see it.
  7. I liked that one a lot. Very low on resources and very good tested protection. And free! But the latest version (7.0) was nothing but trouble, updating almost impossible because of constantly overloaded servers but also a buggy updater. Scanning crashed my system sometimes. Version 6 never ever did that. The worst thing is that when I uninstalled the software it broke my ISP-layer disconnecting me from the internet.....ouch! I'll wait till they fix this, now forced back to AVGfree from Grisoft.
  8. Being new here I would like to thank al those skillful people overhere who keep updating and improving my old Win98se! Sadly I must say that with this modified kernel I ran into a few problems. First I noticed that a dotnet 2.0 application (please dont ask, some sort of "hiding" thing) wasn't running anymore. More important for me, I couldn't install a DVD-ram driver because my OS wasn't recognized, " Your OS is not suitable to install this software" ? Not true offcourse. Is the date of my kernel32.dll, 27-02-06, causing this? Other programs install ok. I installed a new ZoneAlarm without a glitch. Reverting back to original kernel32.dll from Win98 CD solved both these problems. Hope that this info wil be of use. off topic: A DVD-ram works fine with Win98, just like a very fast 4.6 gig floppydisk. See how capable this old OS still is!
