  1. Check if the cryptsvc service is running.

    No Window

Create a new user and try with the new created user. If it's only profile related it should work with the new created user.
  3. You said you have a ghost of your daily hd. Try to restore from the ghost the boot.ini files. Then you might need to restore other system files from this ghost image.
  4. A brand new Asus P5B (full of bugs - some corrected by the lastest bios). Anyway i'll stick with a 3ware sata 9500S as finding a good hardware sata II pci card seems to be very difficult.
  5. Set your nvidia setting to classic mode, then go to display properties, parameters, advanced, 6800GT, desktop management, zoom, and uncheck active zoom when playing video. (all those are translated from my language so you may encounter little differences).
  6. If i remember correctly, you should be able to do it with Hyena or Dameware utilities.
  7. You could also disabled the usb ports in bios if there's such option.
  8. I thought the TX2300 was hardware raid. I 'm planning on setting the card on a PCI slot (the common one which is on most old and new MB).
  9. If you stop MSDE services before backing up, any backup tools (even ntbackup) can do the job.
  10. You could use the registry to set another font which could be bigger with the 8 size than tahoma with the same size. Anyway, in the display properties, appearance, advanced, you have the choice to change the size and the font for most used fonts.
  11. If the box is blank, it mean that component isn't installed (for the add/Remove component wizard). But some component cannot be removed just like this.
  12. You seems to have a tweaked cd which doesn't contains all default languages. You'll need to get a standard XP CD.
  13. The user profile (a folder usually in c:\documents and settings) should be enough.
  14. There are also tools like Recovery manager for Active directory which cost a lot of money (licensing model is by user).
  15. It is a hardware raid card !!! If you know of a better SATA II PCI RAID card, tell me which model.
  16. Perhaps there's a policy disabling it. To check it, launch gpedit.msc, then go to user configuration, administration templates, windows components, windows explorer, remove the folder option menu item from the tools menu. If it's enabled, try disabling it and it may solve your problem.
  17. Bump Nobody ? I'll have to buy it and try it.
  18. Try modifying your usb bios setting: sometimes when the bios is handling the floppy emulation, XP can't load his drivers correctly.
  19. If you're speaking about a software, i would use squid.
  20. Unless your AD is in mixed mode to support old NT DC, you should be able to run a 2003 as a backup DC.
  21. I would prefer a core 2 duo as the new 775 board would more likely be able to support the next generation of cpu (quad core) from intel. AM2 socket doesn't seem to offer the same warranty. Also, i wouldn't buy an nforce 4 chipset MB as they're problems with some hard drive and performances.
  22. Use a netsh batch script and run it by a GPO (computer config, windows parameter, startup script). The script will be run with the local system account and should have more than enough rights.
  23. What do you think about this controler ? Did someone already bought it, and can provide speed stats ?
  24. A simple batch would do it: netsh -f script.txt script.txt interface ip set dns "local area network" dhcp register=primary Deploy it with a gpo for example. Also if your dns server aren't obtained with the dhcp modify the script.txt according your needs.
  25. No, passwords are crypted. You could use some passwords cracker like @stake LC4 to find them.
