    Stop it…

oh & while were at it ... i hope it ain't too much to have the script create other blank folder(s) as well: HFEXPERT this folder will just be there in case the need for it comes up ...
  2. @ tommyp thanks again sir for the clarification ... as always @ tain get well sir ... i am not much in a hurry ... i will wait for it sirs! i am just a little concerned about integrating the new codec packs ... that's all ... in fact i have already followed the instructions from the initial posts here & i believe it works ... again, i would just like to make use of the new packs so everything else is updated ... thanks!
  3. yup ... i checked on it too & this is the file present for download: HFSLIP_60425
  4. hi! i'd just like to ask if there'd be any update for this ... specifically for XP (with minor differences in folders with that of 2K) & especially with the new codec packs now (i.e., XP Codec Pack 1.3.4 & Codec Pack All in 1 6.0.3.0) ... specifically the new files that come with it ... thanks much! any help would be appreciated! -kiki-
  5. thanks for the clarif tommyp ... as for the USB prog, that is what i actually do ... install it after the OS is done (as flash drive mgr is quite helpful esp for those getting files from here to there, etc.) ... i'm just thinking that it'd be great to have it done likewise when the script is doing its thing ... & yes sir ... i'd like to see a small source ... without affecting any functionality so to speak

    Stop it…

hi squeeto, as Super-Magician already mentioned, i'd just like to outline the ff for better view (this is actually from the source ) FDVFILES - FDV'S Fileset (W2K only) FIX - WINNT.SIF, Boot Files, See instructions HF - Non-renamed hotfix and critical updates files HFCABS - Cabinet Files: IE6 (2k Only), DX9, LegitCheckControl HFSPACK - The Service Pack installer. HFSVCPACK - Switchless installers (Installed at T-13), REG files (Import your settings at T-13), INF files and CMD files (To be processed at T-13) HFSVCPACK_SW - Installers that need a /Q:A /R:N switch (Installed at T-13) HFTOOLS - HFSLIP Tools, MSICabExtract tool. (See directions for download link), modifype.exe, ISOconf.txt (custom ISO creation), expand.exe (orig. MS version if one in SYSTEM32 is replaced) SOURCE - Dump your installation CD source here the instructions though from http://www.vorck.com/hfslip.html does the slipstreaming of SP2 manually hope this clarifies sir! as for what this thread's all about ... i personally believe that HFSLIP holds so much promise & power that numerous additions are being put into it ... HFSLIP accomodates much that many users (new & even the senior members of MSFN from different forums) are getting into it (or at least checking it out) ... i for one though just like what i've mentioned in my previous posts would like to have everything done the HFSLIP way (w/o having to use other apps to refine it or reduce the source) ... i do not want to even post in this topic for fear of being criticized for doing so - as this seems to be a gathering of senior members ;o - but i am very thankful to have found HFSLIP after searching for a long time as to which program would address my needs HFSLIP is truly GREAT! however which way HFSLIP threads its developments ... i will always be here to support it ... (as an aside, in fact the very 1st website i go to whenever i get my hands on the net is MSFN\HFSLIP ) Tomcat, don't you find it a bit taxing to produce 2 vers?
  7. thanks sir for the quick reply ... perhaps you just woke up btw, i just like to clarify, the requests i brought up should be done the HFSLIP way, alright ... w/ all the removals, i am worried about i386\ASMS (10.2mb) the most (we could safely remove the others, correct?)
  8. i second this! this woud be great! i'll be watching this unfold ... ... kind of & that is basically what i do too to be sure that the end product would not give me headaches later ...Tomcat (& tommyp) always come up w/ newer vers when there are new updates
  9. hi! i'd just like to ask if it would be possible to enable support of http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...&DisplayLang=en in HFSLIP? may i ask too if it's possible to reduce size by removing the ff: i386\ASMS (10.2mb) i386\WIN9XUPG (32.6mb) i386\WIN9XUPG (3.97mb) i386\WINNTUPG (1.04mb) i know we can but would there not be problems that'd present itself later on ... i guess trying to compress ASMS results to some errors involving some files? (not sure though) lastly, i'd just like to follow-up if it would be possible to consider adding the time stamps (start & end) of running HFSLIP? everything else works great! thanks!
  10. go it sir ... have actually tried it once but i wasn't so confident w/ the list of codecs i had ... i simply followed the instructions there & downloaded the .rar files containing the codecs & the .inf ... thanks again!
  11. welcome to HFSLIP PVU! there are so many things you could do with the power of HFSLIP ... certainly you'd encounter bumps along the way so i'd suggest reading through the different threads ... most of what i've learned are from constantly posting issues/concerns ... HFSLIP people are very supportive (Tomcat76, tommyp, Super-Magician, FDV to name a few ...)! before delving into the HFEXPERT feature, to quote tommyp (this was what he told me before) ...
  12. Not sure what you want me to do here. HFSLIP doesn't support the RVM Update Pack...just thought it might be worth a look ...so we can't use ryanvm's cab for HFSLIP ... it's fine! would there be an update about this (especially with the new codec packs around)? thanks!
  13. thanks much Glowy!Ü would we have indicators here for new revisions/updates?
  14. just a quick question ... would those with this yellow arrow icon be newly added updates? thanks!
  15. (2) already dealt with (KB883921) ... hotfix removed from the list ... i think though it would be great to still have the facility for checking of hotfix(es) that add(s) folders (4) pls see attached file for the differences in the hotfixes contained in the cab & with those in the HF dir (5) attached thanks HFSLIP_files.txt TXTSETUP.zip
  16. thanks for the update sir! i will just take this KB out of the HF directory for good. good morning!
  17. hi sirs (Tomcat, tommyp, Super-Magician)! thanks again for the immediate response ... my apologies but i actually had the file sitting somewhere here ... I couldn't find it though when i posted earlier ... no i found it ... it is KB883921 (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/883921/en-us) cheers!
  18. hi sir! i am new to this thread ... i just want to report that the package doesn't seem to work for me via HFSLIP ... i've read that for some it does but for me, it's otherwise ... i might de doing something wrong here but i think not ... i always end up having to install the MS package after installing XP ... apps that require it report needing to install 2.0 for these to work ... it didn't integrate successfully as some apps still look for an installation of dotnetfx 2 ... apart from it not being present in Add or Remove Programs, this is what i see in the event viewer when i verify: Product: Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 -- Error 1406.Could not write value DW0200 to key \Software\Microsoft\PCHealth\ErrorReporting\DW\Installed. System error . Verify that you have sufficient access to that key, or contact your support personnel. For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp. btw, i run 1.1 & 2.0 one after the other (as i have them both in the process of installation via svcpak) ... looking forward to your feedback ... thanks much! -kiki-
  19. hi again sirs (Tomcat & tommyp)! as always, many thanks for your feedback! i just want to share what i've accomplished over the weekend (i was still using 503c though to make isos) ... here's what i've found out: (1) here are the added folders to the i386 dir + their contents: 041b D:\SOURCESS\I386\041b\wmpshell.dll.mu_ D:\SOURCESS\I386\041b\xpsp2res.dl_ D:\SOURCESS\I386\041b\mlang.dll.mu_ D:\SOURCESS\I386\041b\wmm2res2.dll.mu_ D:\SOURCESS\I386\041b\wmploc.dll.mu_ 041e D:\SOURCESS\I386\041e\wmpshell.dll.mu_ D:\SOURCESS\I386\041e\xpsp1res.dl_ D:\SOURCESS\I386\041e\xpsp2res.dl_ D:\SOURCESS\I386\041e\browselc.dl_ D:\SOURCESS\I386\041e\inetres.dl_ D:\SOURCESS\I386\041e\mlang.dll.mu_ D:\SOURCESS\I386\041e\mshtmler.dl_ D:\SOURCESS\I386\041e\msoeres.dl_ D:\SOURCESS\I386\041e\shdoclc.dl_ D:\SOURCESS\I386\041e\wab32res.dl_ D:\SOURCESS\I386\041e\wmm2res2.dll.mu_ D:\SOURCESS\I386\041e\wmploc.dll.mu_ 0402 D:\SOURCESS\I386\0402\wmploc.dll.mu_ D:\SOURCESS\I386\0402\wmpshell.dll.mu_ D:\SOURCESS\I386\0402\xpsp2res.dl_ D:\SOURCESS\I386\0402\mlang.dll.mu_ D:\SOURCESS\I386\0402\msi.dll.mu_ D:\SOURCESS\I386\0402\shdoclc.dl_ D:\SOURCESS\I386\0402\wmm2res2.dll.mu_ D:\SOURCESS\I386\0402\wmm2res.dll.mu_ 0418 D:\SOURCESS\I386\0418\xpsp2res.dl_ D:\SOURCESS\I386\0418\mlang.dll.mu_ D:\SOURCESS\I386\0418\shdoclc.dl_ D:\SOURCESS\I386\0418\wmm2res2.dll.mu_ D:\SOURCESS\I386\0418\wmm2res.dll.mu_ D:\SOURCESS\I386\0418\wmploc.dll.mu_ D:\SOURCESS\I386\0418\wmpshell.dll.mu_ 0425 D:\SOURCESS\I386\0425\wmpshell.dll.mu_ D:\SOURCESS\I386\0425\xpsp2res.dl_ D:\SOURCESS\I386\0425\mlang.dll.mu_ D:\SOURCESS\I386\0425\shdoclc.dl_ D:\SOURCESS\I386\0425\wmm2res2.dll.mu_ D:\SOURCESS\I386\0425\wmm2res.dll.mu_ D:\SOURCESS\I386\0425\wmploc.dll.mu_ 0426 D:\SOURCESS\I386\0426\wmpshell.dll.mu_ D:\SOURCESS\I386\0426\xpsp2res.dl_ D:\SOURCESS\I386\0426\mlang.dll.mu_ D:\SOURCESS\I386\0426\shdoclc.dl_ D:\SOURCESS\I386\0426\wmm2res2.dll.mu_ D:\SOURCESS\I386\0426\wmm2res.dll.mu_ D:\SOURCESS\I386\0426\wmploc.dll.mu_ 0427 D:\SOURCESS\I386\0427\xpsp2res.dl_ D:\SOURCESS\I386\0427\mlang.dll.mu_ D:\SOURCESS\I386\0427\shdoclc.dl_ D:\SOURCESS\I386\0427\wmm2res2.dll.mu_ D:\SOURCESS\I386\0427\wmm2res.dll.mu_ D:\SOURCESS\I386\0427\wmploc.dll.mu_ D:\SOURCESS\I386\0427\wmpshell.dll.mu_ (2) on the early stages of slipstreaming, HFSLIP reported that a particular KB added some folders; i tried taking it out though but the same additional folders (above) still showed up in SOURCESS (3) i think i already resolved my XPize issue ... it was totally my bad ... ... i was using an XPized SP2 SOURCESS (as XPize has a feature to create a bootable XPized ISO) ... when i just used SOURCESS from HFSLIP, T-13 didn't show anymore the installation prompts of XPize ... oh well, a lesson learned! (4) would RyanVM's Windows XP Post-SP2 Update Pack work hand in hand with HFSLIP? you see, in 1 of my experimental builds, i checked the contents of the package & removed from the HF directories those files that are in the cab file ... now when i ran qfecheck, it only shows those that were in the addon pack ... & not those in the HF folders ... i've attached a text file for your reference (5) these 2 don't seem to do anything for the system: Themes_rytukz_VistaCG_addon_v1.0.cab Themes_rytukz_VistaCG_addon_v1.1.cab ... i tried each 1 at a time & i tried even having both ... to no avail (no theme added for me to use) ... checking both files though do not seem to show any pic file ... btw, 1.0 has a bigger size compared to 1.1 due to the difference in compression (6) would it be possible to replace snap ons like dfrg.msc via HFEXPERT\APPREPLACEMENT? (7) would the reference (or update at least) for slisptreaming CODECS be applicable to XP too? apparently, the discussion in a different thread is for 2K (8) is there a difference between letting HFSLIP integrate SP than doing it manually? (9) just a follow up, i know it might be too much to ask but could the entire process (from start to finish) be generated as a separate report too (so that we can see all the messages/errors/processes that have transpired during the run of HFSLIP) (10) lastly, about timing the slipstreaming process, would it be alright to request for the start & end times be included in the log as well? cheers! hotfixes.txt HFSLIP.txt
  20. i think HFSLIP does sir ... since Microsoft MakeCab v1.00.0601 isn't avail anymore, would http://users.atw.hu/mp-soft/CabSDKAddons_1.0.cab more or less have the same function? already got the 1.1 ver ... will try it oops sorry for the confusion ... i meant would there be anything else that needs to be edited in this already modified SFC_OS.DL_? BTW, how do i get to edit some text files (.dl_, .sif, etc.) when they appear to be with non-eng, non alpha-numeric chars? ;o thanks again!
  21. thanks TC! as always, i have downloaded the latest! sir, do you mind looking into this: http://users.atw.hu/mp-soft/CabSDKAddons_1.0.cab? i've taken the liberty of attaching a zipped sif files (1 without the error & 1 with the error) for your reference just wondering, for XPize to be silently install would i not need an edited modified SFC_OS.DLL which i got from http://www3.sympatico.ca/lazimute/xpcr_en/SFC_OS.DL_? thanks again! TXTSETUP.zip
  22. I have not added much add-ons except for the ff: VistaCG Theme [v0.98], Microsoft MakeCab v1.00.0601, XnView Complete v1.82.4, Reboot Into Safe Mode v1.0 ... please see the pic attachment for the extra folders thanks for the clarification Super-Magician … I was just thinking that replacing it probably with .exe would make it work Is qfecheck capable of detecting it? As far as I know, it is only installed if Windows setup thinks it's necessary. It's just a driver update. Are you having audio problems? If installed separately, High Def Audio shows up in Add-Remove programs list … if included in the HF dir, it doesn’t show when checked via qfe … Please know though that I‘m not having any issue w/ audio Really strange. SVCPACK.INF doesn't contain the switches even though they are specified in XPize.txt. Can I have a look at your xpize.txt file? pls see attachments sir … I’ve included both the SVCPAK & SYSOC.infs … please know I am not having problems w/ the installation … it’s just that I hope I wouldn’t have to answer follow the prompts anymore at T-13 got the latest already … let me try this ver J just the same pls see the pic attachment for the error thanks guys! this is nothing much ... but may be worth a look ... "Founding" xpize.txt infs.7z
  23. hi all! been away for quite a while ... ;( just wanted to share that all seems fine with those that i have slipstreamed ... only a few things to share though: 888111 doesn't seem to recognized when ITs presence is validated via qfecheck ... it does not show in the report a particular theme addon (VistaCGI if i recall it right) from rynavm prevent the OS from installing ... it shows that line 1 of textsetup.sif is not valid ... there seems to many directories (usually the very 1st folders) added to my i386 directory (i.e., 041, 043, & the like) ... where did these come from? btw, XPIZESW=/S /notask still didn't work for me. XPize installation still showed up at T-13 & i still followed the prompts. may i just ask what the SW is for? thanks!
  24. thanks for the confirmation sir ... will do ... although, i tried different approaches in the xpize.txt in HFTOOLS dir ... xpize.exe /S /notask & one with XPIZESW=/S /notask yet prompts still come up ... well, not that it is difficult to follow the prompts ... though it would have been much better if no prompt anymore would present itself
