  1. All you need is ghost 9. Recently got my copy from symantec and it KICKS a**. hot drive imaging and winpe-based restore mode w/ network support.
  2. I'm pretty sure that if you have the new .iss file then u dont need the "-f1"%systemdrive%\install\Applications\WinDVD\Setup.iss" ". Just put "-s" at the end.
  3. I installed a slipstreamed SP2 copy of WinXP pro on my laptop. Norton 2003 + SP2 = no liveupdate. Symantec is taking their sweet time with a compatibility patch for NAV. Are there any other antivirus programs that work well with SP2?? Anyone have any success stories?
  4. Well seeing how I am running a slipstreamed edition of SP2 on my laptop, uninstalling SP2 is not an option. So I guess I should wait till an update is released for Liveupdate for SP2 before I update my Main System. Thanks for the help.
  5. Is there a way I can integrate my copy of Norton Antivirus 2003 and the new version of Liveupdate? I installed NAV 2003 on my WinXP SP2 and keep gettin an error regarding liveupdate on startup. Any idea???
  6. I just installed a slipstreamed version of SP2 and I cannot click NEXT at the user creation page. (the first page). Its not my ini file cause I tried the original file and still nothin. Anyone get it to work in SP2? EDIT: Sorry the computername field wasn't filled in. Please delete this post.
  7. It is. Its just that MCE has built-in software for watchin tv and stuff. Apparently the software only works with certain hardware tuners. other than that....I assume thats the only difference I think.
  8. Haha nope. I makin a plexi-glass case for my cousin's xbox and he is giving me his old xbox case and I am gonna try and shove my other computer in his xbox case. I was just wondering if it was possible. I thought I saw a copy of MCE online for sale so i was just wondering.
  9. I have an old ATI Rage 128 Pro tv tuner. I was wondering if Windows XP Media Center Edition will recognize my tuner card and use it for the TV feature. Anyone know if it will work?
  10. I remember in (I think) 2000, when windows was shutting down, all you had to do was close down rundll32.exe from taskmgr and that stopped windows from shutting down. Is there something like that in XP?
  11. Haha Chaosratt has a point about the scratches. I made a plexiglass wit a Pine bottom, and even though the scratches were there from before (I used previously used plexiglass), they still look kinda bad. But I dont care about that. Im just happy with teh results. As for heat, I have a 80mm, and a 120mm fan, plus the powersupply fan so heat is no worry for me.
  12. yea. most enclosures are the same unless u want like a kickass look. but for general use. they are all the same. as for burners...if u want one that writes to everything....go for LG. However LG has some issues with cheap dvd media. I personally order 50 Princo DVD's from blankmedia.ca for 33bux. But if you dont want to worry about media types, go for a sony. they have gotten cheap.
  13. In my opinion, buy an internal dvd burner. I suggest a LG SUper Multi drive. It supports to and writes to all types of writable and re-writable dvds. Then go and buy an external 5.25" USB2.0 case. these together wont cost you more than 170(Canadian). Whereas if you go and by an external dvd burner at most places you will be paying upwards of 250.
  14. I recently formatted and reinstalled windows xp sp1a and all my software. My problem is when I put in my dvd-ram disc, it says the media is invalid and it must be formatted and I am unable to read it. Before I formatted the drive showed up as DVD-RAM in explorer and I was able to read and write to my dvd-ram disc. However now I can't because explorer thinks its a CD-ROM drive, even though device manager knows its a dvd-ram drive. Is there a certain aspi file I need to setup my dvd-ram drive correctly. I fixed this problem a while ago but I cannot remember how to do it. Any ideas? Thanks
  15. Haha. what happened to their saying that they don't care if pirated users use sp2, so long as everyone installs sp2 for the higher security. I must say that quote posted above is a lot of bull. Sure they will disable numerous serial numbers....but destroy the user's harddrive???? Gimme a break
  16. I'm planning on making a HTA based frontend for my unattended installs to be used within WinPE (or BartPE). This frontend will give u all possible options for a winnt.sif file and output it to a certain location. then the finish button will execute the installation with teh unattend file as a parameter, My question is...has anyone had problems with running HTA files in PE?? and also, if I put the winnt.sif file onto the ramdrive, will setup be able to use it??
  17. ok. I made a front-end loader for my AIO/software DVD. By using javascript, I am able to launch a file through my HTA application which executes a file - which installs a program. (for those of you who think it will allow u to hack into someones pc through the internet...think again. antivirus/firewalls will notify the user of the script. I just simply allow the script because its a local script made by me and I know its safe.) I want to be able to launch this HTA program from a network share for my laptop because my laptop cannot read dvd-rw's. I was wondering if anyone knows how to do it. I have tried many different methods but have had no luck. The posted code is a snippet from one of my many files. BTW. the share path is //server/dvd. <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" xml:lang="en" lang="en"> <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="./common/wpi.css" /> </head> <body class="body"> <script> function Launchgarminmetro() { var ws = new ActiveXObject("WScript.Shell"); ws.Exec("..\\Garmin\\Canada.Metroguide-RR\\Setup.exe")} function Launchgarminwater() { var ws = new ActiveXObject("WScript.Shell"); ws.Exec("..\\Garmin\\US.Waterways.and.Lights\\Setup.exe")} function Launchgarminmap() { var ws = new ActiveXObject("WScript.Shell"); ws.Exec("..\\Garmin\\World.Map.v3.00\\Setup.exe")} function Launchofficexp() { var ws = new ActiveXObject("WScript.Shell"); ws.Exec("..\\officexp\\SETUPPLS.EXE")} function Launchcamedia() { var ws = new ActiveXObject("WScript.Shell"); ws.Exec("..\\camedia\\camedia\\SETUP.EXE")} function Launchtrips04() { var ws = new ActiveXObject("WScript.Shell"); ws.Exec("..\\Trips04\\cd1run.exe")} function Launchtrips04copyfiles() { var ws = new ActiveXObject("WScript.Shell"); ws.Run("..\\Trips04\\copyfiles.bat")} </script> <a name="checks"> <form name="WPI"> <table width="394" height="256"> <tr> <td class="txt" valign="top" width="365" height="252"> </form> <p><font size="3">Microsoft Office XP Professional</font></p> <form method="POST" action="--WEBBOT-SELF--"> <input type="button" value="Install" name="B3" onclick="javascript:Launchofficexp()"></p> </form> <p><font size="3">Microsoft Streets & Trips 2004</font> </p> <form method="POST" action="--WEBBOT-SELF--"> <input type="button" value="Install" name="B3" onclick="javascript:Launchtrips04()"> <input type="submit" value="Copy Files" name="B1" onclick="javascript:Launchtrips04copyfiles()"></p> </form> <p><font size="3">Garmin MapSource</font> </p> <form method="POST" action="--WEBBOT-SELF--"> <input type="button" value="MetroGuide" name="B3" onclick="javascript:Launchgarminmetro()"> <input type="submit" value="Waterways" name="B1" onclick="javascript:Launchgarminwater()"> <input type="reset" value="World Map" name="B2" onclick="javascript:Launchgarminmap()"></p> </form> <p><font size="3">CaMedia Software</font> </p> <form method="POST" action="--WEBBOT-SELF--"> <input type="button" value="Install" name="B1" onclick="javascript:Launchcamedia()"></p> </form> </td> </tr> </form> </table> </body> </html> Any suggestions or comments would appreciated.
  18. Im planing on buying a usb2.0 case for my 40gig spare maxtor drive. Im on the road a lot and my laptop rarely leaves my side. I was thinking about throwing 8 AA or 8 C batteries to make a battery pack to power the usb harddrive when i am not near an outlet. My question is how long would the harddrive last on the batteries? and if the batteries slowly die, will all my data get corrupted? I do plan on testing this out but just wanted to hear any thoughts. Thanks
  19. Thats basically like what Whimsey has here.... http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=11491
  20. hmmmm I dont seem to have 1036.mst, 2057.mst or Data21.cab. Are these 3 files small? If so any chance you could send them this way? Thanks.
  21. I have the farcry cd version and I realised after I bought there was a DVD version. I tried putting all my cds into 1 dvd but it doesn't work. I was hoping someone who has the DVD version could post a screenshot of their folder layout. Just a pic of the root folder would be great. Thanks
  22. If it says put the xp in the floppy drive that means that your missing the root files that identify the cdrom. They are like win51 win5l win51.sp1, etc.... sorry I cant be specific with filenames but I can tell you that is your problem. your missing those files.
  23. Basically I ported some code from Whimsy's project and other sites. But those pieces were jsut small parts. not enough to show you how to make the whole thing. I guess if there are enough requests I could throw together a tutorial for the code but I guess for the people who want to play with it right away should just open the pages in like frontpage to change the look. Unfortunatly i'm goning to be real busy this week and my next semester starts next week so ill be lucky if I finish it anytime soon. But like I said, if there are enough requests for a tutorial, ill gladly throw one together.
  24. hmmmm. LOL Seems I forgot to attach the file. Sorry Here it is AutorunHTA.zip AutorunHTA.zip
