  1. I plan to buy the compaq R2045 (64bit 3200 / 1gig ram / 80gig hd / x200 / DL dvd-rw) What I want to know is what is the equivalent to the x200 in desktop pcs? Like is it a ati 9200 or nvidia 5200? Thanks
  2. Thanks a lot... I havn't tried goto my pc, but seeing how its a well-known RD program, I can only assume they blocked it. Ill give the telnet port a go. The reason I didn't contact my network admin is because I am under contract for the summer. And despite the fact our department doesn't deal with confidential info (for the most part)...the banks network is going to be secure as possible and I am probably going to be denied access before I even end an email.
  3. Hey y'all... ok heres my problem. I work for the Royal Bank (Canadian bank) as a PSO Admin (IT Support for about 100 people working on a bigass project). I want to remote desktop my home pc from work. Now being a bank and being extremely secure, I have tried many things and nothing works. I have tried RD, RD web access, changing RD to port 80 on my home pc, VNC, vnc thru port 80, 8081, vnc thru IE java interface. All with no luck. They are running ISA2000 for their Internet hosting. Does anyone have any thoughts on remote access?
  4. haha the guy just ruined his 20th, I'd be upset too. Are you sure it stalls, or just takes a long time? I remember before SP1 and I would add all the updates, it would take like 20min to change 1 min in the time. Have u tried leaving it for like 10-15min. Give a list of what u did. like was it all manual, or did u use something like nlite. I doubt its the SIF, it must be a messed up file. Cause from my understanding, nothing is running at that point, could be wrong tho. There is a posibility its a hardware problem. Search MS's KB on when it stalls and see what comes up. Also, Shift+F10 (during setup) opens up the command prompt and see if u can read the log file for any errors.
  5. Ok, I'm in the process of completely replacing the standard Windows Xp Autorun exe with my own. My question is... what are the commands they use on their buttons? eg. "Install optional Windows components", check system compatibility, etc... I know some of those buttons no one uses, but i just want to change the look and add some buttons, while still keeping it roughly the same. Is there a site of the buttons and the commands they run? Or would someone mind putting a list together for me?? Thanks -Matt
  6. quick fix: just set a static IP within the range or ur routers scope. put in the ip address, subnet, default gateway and dns server.
  7. Uhhhh.... Someone correct me if I am wrong....But since u have an OEM key, your workplace may have either a Retail or Volume Licence Key. In which case, you can mix and match keys to versions. There are a couple files in the I386 folder that distinguish between versions...like there are file for a retail cd that are sightly different in an OEM disc....find and replace the files from your cd onto the other cd your making (I dont know which files) hope this helps.
  8. You gotta go into the rules section and either allow all neighbourhood traffic or setup a rule that allows that IP address
  9. Obviously there arent a lot of drivers for 2003...I was wondering if I should use XP or 2000 drivers for my 2003 installation.
  10. Okay..one day I used nero to burn stuff onto my dvd-ram disc....but now I cant write to it like a regular dvd-ram disc...I cant format it in windows explorer or anything...I would appreciate any help in me getting back my ram disc
  11. I have a dvd setup with many different versions of xp pro...regular, sp1, sp1u, sp2, sp2u, etc.... my problem is cdshell doesnt support the sp2 bootfiles...so as im told from their site. Are there any good alternatives?
  12. I bought the iRiver Jukebox...iHP-120. Even though it put a dent in my bank account...It was totally worth it. I listen to a lot of music and the radio. So I went and bought this one. It comes with a wired LCD remote, tuner, and no software required to load mp3. Unlike the Ipod. I woulda got the iPOD...but the complete lack of a radio tuner, and completly over-priced accessories...60bux for a cheap plastic case???? Gimme a break...haha went off the back end there for a min...I must apologize to the Ipod people. Anywho...If I had to recommend something...get like the 1gig rio players...or even better bet the ipod shuffle.
  13. I am taking a Windows certification course and a novell certification course in school and we use removable harddrives for the installations. My question is..so i dont have to waste my time on the initial copy of the setup files in text-mode, can I start that portion of the installation at home and shutdown after text-mode finishes and then bring my harddrive into class and resume the installation?? or will the 2 different hardware setups ruin this. I dont plan on using the removable harddrive at home...I just want to get ahead by getting setup ready for class. Is this possible? Thanks
  14. Looks nice......but I would choose my iRiver iHP-120 20gig mp3 player over that thing anytime.
  15. in 2000/xp...just single-left-click the icon and click on the item to be removed....alot easier than double-clicking the icon and going thru the whole process....2 clicks....thats all I ask. hehe
  16. I fully understand how to use WSH files and how to get inputs and everything working. The question I have is if there are any methods that click the mouse button, hopefully in a certain position on the screen. If not, can anyone recommend an alternative that does perform mouse inputs?
  17. Woah. Thanks a lot. These are gonna be very useful.
  18. I have a 120gig Ximeta Netdisk. I want to be able to secure some folders on it to keep others out. One main reason is because I disconnect it from the network and use it as a usb2 drive when im away from home. Is there any software that I could use to encrypt it? One preference I have would be that if i connect it to a computer without that software, will it be readable? or will it be decrypted??
  19. If you saw this pic somewhere, it could just be that person renamed the my favorites folder, changed its location, and changed the icon. I apologize this is no help I just thought I would throw in my 2 cents
  20. I'm planning on buying a Ximeta Netdisk lan/usb2 external drive. I will be using a winpe cd I made to boot from (because my laptop wont boot from usb). What I want to know is when I am running winpe, will I be able to access my usb2 drive? Also, I have a copy of winpe running off my harddrive. Can I install the Ximeta software successfully in winpe and run it?
  21. haha oops. sorry. shoulda searched first. admins u may delete this if u want.
  22. Uhhhhhh, maybe its just me but I noticed that Windows Media Player 10 doesn't save your settings after you close it. I expand my library and all my albums, I turn off visualizations, and tweak the audio enhancements. But when i close WMP10 and re-open it, it all goes back to stock settings. Is there a certain setting I have off??
