  1. Both problems solved after reinstallation where I kept Windows Mail.
  2. Probably also due to removal of Windows Mail. Reinstalled with Windows Mail, and now it seem to work.
  3. I have this problem after installing WLM on my vLited install: Edit: Just to clarify, the two contact names should say "Nørgaard" and "Søren" To me it look like WLM choked on some characterset, but why is this? It must have something to do with the removal of something - Languages??? ; vLite preset file ; ;#Environment: ; vLite v1.2 ; Framework 2.0.50727.1434 ; Microsoft Windows NT 6.0.6001 Service Pack 1 64-bit ; ;#Target: ; Windows Vista HOMEPREMIUM 64-bit Service Pack 1 ; Version 6.0.6001.18000 English (United States) ; [Compatibility] [CustomHide] [Components] ;# Accessories # Accessibility ; Accessibility Games-Game Explorer ; Games-Game Explorer Games-Inbox Games ; Games-Inbox Games Games-Premium Inbox Games ; Games-Premium Inbox Games Mobility Center ; Mobility Center Paint ; Paint Snipping Tool ; Snipping Tool Speech Support ; Speech Support System Information ; System Information Welcome Center ; Welcome Center Windows Sidebar and Gadgets ; Windows Sidebar and Gadgets Wordpad ; Wordpad ;# Drivers # Display adapters-Ati ; Display adapters-Ati Display adapters-Intel ; Display adapters-Intel Display adapters-NVIDIA ; Display adapters-NVIDIA Diva Server ; Diva Server Ethernet network adapters ; Ethernet network adapters Modems ; Modems Printers-Apollo ; Printers-Apollo Printers-Brother ; Printers-Brother Printers-Canon ; Printers-Canon Printers-Citizen ; Printers-Citizen Printers-Dell ; Printers-Dell Printers-Diconix ; Printers-Diconix Printers-Epson ; Printers-Epson Printers-Fuji Xerox ; Printers-Fuji Xerox Printers-Fujitsu ; Printers-Fujitsu Printers-Generic printer ; Printers-Generic printer Printers-Gestetner ; Printers-Gestetner Printers-HP ; Printers-HP Printers-IBM ; Printers-IBM Printers-Infotec ; Printers-Infotec Printers-Konica ; Printers-Konica Printers-Konica Minolta ; Printers-Konica Minolta Printers-Kyocera Mita ; Printers-Kyocera Mita Printers-Lanier ; Printers-Lanier Printers-Lexmark ; Printers-Lexmark Printers-Minolta ; Printers-Minolta Printers-Minolta-QMS ; Printers-Minolta-QMS Printers-NEC ; Printers-NEC Printers-NRG ; Printers-NRG Printers-Oce ; Printers-Oce Printers-Oki ; Printers-Oki Printers-Okidata ; Printers-Okidata Printers-Olivetti ; Printers-Olivetti Printers-Panasonic ; Printers-Panasonic Printers-QMS ; Printers-QMS Printers-Ricoh ; Printers-Ricoh Printers-Samsung ; Printers-Samsung Printers-Savin ; Printers-Savin Printers-Seikosha ; Printers-Seikosha Printers-Sharp ; Printers-Sharp Printers-Sony ; Printers-Sony Printers-Star ; Printers-Star Printers-Tally ; Printers-Tally Printers-Tektronix ; Printers-Tektronix Printers-Wipro ePeripherals ; Printers-Wipro ePeripherals Printers-Xerox ; Printers-Xerox QLogic Fibre Channel Adapter ; QLogic Fibre Channel Adapter Scanners ; Scanners Sound controllers ; Sound controllers Storage controllers-Adaptec ; Storage controllers-Adaptec Storage controllers-Elxstor ; Storage controllers-Elxstor Storage controllers-Hewlett-Packard ; Storage controllers-Hewlett-Packard Storage controllers-IBM ServeRAID ; Storage controllers-IBM ServeRAID Storage controllers-ICP vortex ; Storage controllers-ICP vortex Storage controllers-Intel (Matrix) ; Storage controllers-Intel (Matrix) Storage controllers-ITE ; Storage controllers-ITE Storage controllers-LSI Logic ; Storage controllers-LSI Logic Storage controllers-MegaRAID ; Storage controllers-MegaRAID Storage controllers-Promise ; Storage controllers-Promise Storage controllers-SiS ; Storage controllers-SiS Storage controllers-ULi ; Storage controllers-ULi Storage controllers-Via ; Storage controllers-Via TV Tuners-ADS Technologies ; TV Tuners-ADS Technologies TV Tuners-ASUSTeK Computer Inc. ; TV Tuners-ASUSTeK Computer Inc. 4. KB955302 causes infinite reboots when I try to install it. In this thread someone suggests it's because of WLAN removal, although this rather claims it should be "Windows Mail". I have removed both in this vLite install, but can someone confirm if it's one or another or even a third components fault? WLM won't start due to missing msoert2.dll after KB951066 is applied according to this thread, and it indeed works fine after removing it. The hotfix seem also to have something to do with "Windows Mail". Are "Windows Mail" simply a bad idea to remove when I want compatibility? I simply removed it because I won't need it, but if Windows Update keeps barfing over it, I'd rather keep it. Did I remove anything else, that might be crucial for some applications? I'm pleased with the size of the final installation and the non-bloatyness which are my only goals. ; vLite preset file ; ;#Environment: ; vLite v1.2 ; Framework 2.0.50727.1434 ; Microsoft Windows NT 6.0.6001 Service Pack 1 64-bit ; ;#Target: ; Windows Vista HOMEPREMIUM 64-bit Service Pack 1 ; Version 6.0.6001.18000 English (United States) ; [Compatibility] [CustomHide] [Components] ;# Accessories # Accessibility ; Accessibility Games-Game Explorer ; Games-Game Explorer Games-Inbox Games ; Games-Inbox Games Games-Premium Inbox Games ; Games-Premium Inbox Games Mobility Center ; Mobility Center Paint ; Paint Snipping Tool ; Snipping Tool Speech Support ; Speech Support System Information ; System Information Welcome Center ; Welcome Center Windows Sidebar and Gadgets ; Windows Sidebar and Gadgets Wordpad ; Wordpad ;# Drivers # Display adapters-Ati ; Display adapters-Ati Display adapters-Intel ; Display adapters-Intel Display adapters-NVIDIA ; Display adapters-NVIDIA Diva Server ; Diva Server Ethernet network adapters ; Ethernet network adapters Modems ; Modems Printers-Apollo ; Printers-Apollo Printers-Brother ; Printers-Brother Printers-Canon ; Printers-Canon Printers-Citizen ; Printers-Citizen Printers-Dell ; Printers-Dell Printers-Diconix ; Printers-Diconix Printers-Epson ; Printers-Epson Printers-Fuji Xerox ; Printers-Fuji Xerox Printers-Fujitsu ; Printers-Fujitsu Printers-Generic printer ; Printers-Generic printer Printers-Gestetner ; Printers-Gestetner Printers-HP ; Printers-HP Printers-IBM ; Printers-IBM Printers-Infotec ; Printers-Infotec Printers-Konica ; Printers-Konica Printers-Konica Minolta ; Printers-Konica Minolta Printers-Kyocera Mita ; Printers-Kyocera Mita Printers-Lanier ; Printers-Lanier Printers-Lexmark ; Printers-Lexmark Printers-Minolta ; Printers-Minolta Printers-Minolta-QMS ; Printers-Minolta-QMS Printers-NEC ; Printers-NEC Printers-NRG ; Printers-NRG Printers-Oce ; Printers-Oce Printers-Oki ; Printers-Oki Printers-Okidata ; Printers-Okidata Printers-Olivetti ; Printers-Olivetti Printers-Panasonic ; Printers-Panasonic Printers-QMS ; Printers-QMS Printers-Ricoh ; Printers-Ricoh Printers-Samsung ; Printers-Samsung Printers-Savin ; Printers-Savin Printers-Seikosha ; Printers-Seikosha Printers-Sharp ; Printers-Sharp Printers-Sony ; Printers-Sony Printers-Star ; Printers-Star Printers-Tally ; Printers-Tally Printers-Tektronix ; Printers-Tektronix Printers-Wipro ePeripherals ; Printers-Wipro ePeripherals Printers-Xerox ; Printers-Xerox QLogic Fibre Channel Adapter ; QLogic Fibre Channel Adapter Scanners ; Scanners Sound controllers ; Sound controllers Storage controllers-Adaptec ; Storage controllers-Adaptec Storage controllers-Elxstor ; Storage controllers-Elxstor Storage controllers-Hewlett-Packard ; Storage controllers-Hewlett-Packard Storage controllers-IBM ServeRAID ; Storage controllers-IBM ServeRAID Storage controllers-ICP vortex ; Storage controllers-ICP vortex Storage controllers-Intel (Matrix) ; Storage controllers-Intel (Matrix) Storage controllers-ITE ; Storage controllers-ITE Storage controllers-LSI Logic ; Storage controllers-LSI Logic Storage controllers-MegaRAID ; Storage controllers-MegaRAID Storage controllers-Promise ; Storage controllers-Promise Storage controllers-SiS ; Storage controllers-SiS Storage controllers-ULi ; Storage controllers-ULi Storage controllers-Via ; Storage controllers-Via TV Tuners-ADS Technologies ; TV Tuners-ADS Technologies TV Tuners-ASUSTeK Computer Inc. ; TV Tuners-ASUSTeK Computer Inc. 5. What's the date of this driver, and why prefer MS driver over the official from amd.com, though it's dated back to September 2007?
  6. 1. After integrating IE7 with nLite, the menubar is showing as default setting - How can I prevent this (i guess a registry key or something)? - Solved, found the regkey here: HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main\AlwaysShowMenus 2. Is it possible to add Google as the default search provider in IE7 (in the upper right search box) It seem to use a regkey located here: HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\SearchScopes but it seem to use a CSID string to make each provider unique. Should it be possible to simply use one of the generated strings in another installation? Please post if you know anything about this (search doesn't reveal much useful info on this matter). 3. How can I integrate the ActiveX control and software that Windows Update needs before it can search for updates after installing? - Solved: Microsoft Update x64 Addon 4. How do I enable QuickLaunch on the taskbar? - Seem to be some weird registry value containing a CSID string - Not sure if that would be unique to every system? HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Discardable\PostSetup\Component Categories64\{00021492-0000-0000-C000-000000000046}\Enum\Implementing) 5. How do I enable the statusbar in explorer windows? - Solved, found the regkey here: HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main\StatusBarOther I wonder why nLite has so many settings, and yet not includes these last two options? N.B. I use XP x64 - No SP3. Edit: Updated with answers, thanks to the regmon util - Not the search function!
  7. Why is the menubar showing on my integrated WMP 11? Process: 1. nLite'd 2. WMP integrated with Tweak option (I just read that it should be the other way, but first time I did that, it didn't work - Maybe because I removed the WMP10 component with nlite?) Which tweaks are applied with tweak option?
  8. The point would be to get 0ms response time and maximum performance. Currently the fastest is 40MB/s (Sandisk Extreme4), but a few in stripe should give a decent performance. Maybe it's better to wait for real SSD to evolve. Currently they too are at 40MB/s (makes me wonder if it's the same type of flash as the newer CF?) Well this was just an idea to speed up everything on the system drive. Based on my experiences with a striped drive, I can't imagine what a 0ms response time would do! (and I doubt that readyboost even comes close to this idea...)
  9. I've puzzled a little with some ideas to maximize the XP performance to the maximum. CF's are large and really fast lately, but I think most of them still suffer from a limited number of writes, so using them as system drives right away might not be the best solution. But combine it with a large ramdrive, you could in theory use a driver that will redirect all writes to the systemdrive to a temporary memory storage and commit changes from time to time and during shutdown. I know that such driver exists for Linux, but was unable to find one for Windows. What do you think of the idea?
  10. So, appearently I'm the only one running Windows Live Messenger on x64?
  11. So I've been running Live Messenger on my x64 for a while, and all of a sudden (i assume an update were issued) every time I boot my PC, Live Messenger wants to install something - it goes wrong, and when I cancel it, Messenger just starts as usual. So I just wanted to reinstall the entire thing, went to the Live Messenger site and choosed install and are not told that FREAKING WLM is not supported on x64 WHAT?!?!?! WHY?!?!?!? x64 has been able to run every little 32bit thing, I've thrown at it, and now they just don't want us to run WLM on it?
  12. I just got a SyncMaster 203B with a native resolution of 1400x1050. It's attached on my ThinkPad R61 laptop with VGA only (unfortunately DVI is not an option). The R61 has a nVidia Quadro 140M video adapter with a driver only available from Lenovo. It's NOT included in the default nVidia driverpackage! None of the resoloutions presented in the display settings matches 1400x1050 for the attached monitor, and all other resolutions naturally look like crap. I tried installing the monitor driver off the CD with no luck. Even replacing the famous resoluton-line in the driver inf file did the trick to me. HEEEELP! Addendum: Choosing Clone mode in the (still f**ked up) nVidia Configuration Panel, makes it magically choose the correct resolution - However I'd like to use the extended desktop mode.

    burning engine?

I know other applications reply on the Nero engine, so maybe this will only be available when Nero is installed.
  14. I just realized that I removed Net Logon (not on my PC). Are there ANY way to put it back in Windows (x86) without reinstalling?
  15. What a load of crap. What DID they improve over 2005 then? Even VMware supports x64 appearently.
  16. When I load a x64 installer in Virtual PC, I get this: From what I've read, x64 installs should be possible since Virtual PC 2005 Betas. I couldn't find anything about this issue by searching. Edit: And yes, my CPU are 64bit
  17. I have another weird issue. I did not remove the Network option "Dial-up and VPN support", however when I run the "New Connection Wizard" to setup a VPN connection, everything is greyed out Also I have problems running "Microsoft Virtual PC" with x64 OS. I'm sure I've done this before, but I couldn't find anything related to Virtual PC inhere (kinda odd, I guess most people use it to test their configurations?). Another funky thing (doesn't really bothers me, but i'm curious). How come after removing ...pretty much, opening "Computer Management" in "Administrative Tools" asks me if it should run 64bit or 32bit? My guess is that x64 also distributes some 32bit snap-ins, which I appearently now removed a few of leaving a few extra 64bit snap-ins? LAST_SESSION.INI
  18. Thanks Sometimes it helps reading the description. However, I didn't realize that WIA was part of the Video Capture driver.
  19. I integrated the hotfixes available on Windows Update, and it solved the problem without using the patch. Thanks anyway
  20. Hello I got a problem with my Webcam, appearently after removing too much with nLite. When I try to install the driver package, it fails with the error "The required section was not found in the INF". I tested an nlited XP without removing components, and this solved the problem so the problem must be a required component. I've reviewed my settings, and really have no idea what causes this - It might be Netmeeting, but somehow I find that odd... Edit: Tried not to remove Network, Operating System Options and Services, and still no dice LAST_SESSION.INI
  21. 2-5 was solved by not removing Net Logon - How odd? What's netlogon used for with this? 1 was not solved by running your registry patch
  22. I'm creating a stripped down XP x64 for personal use which still have all base elements. However i'm experiencing many different weird problems that I can't localize: 1. I integrated IE7 along with SP2. I'm unable to open "Internet Options" (fails with "This operation has been cancelled due to restrictions in effect on this computer. Please contact your system administrator.") 2. When I try to open "Disk Management" from "Computer Management", I get "Unspecified Error" (The only related problem I could find was that "Disk Management" would be unavailable if the "Logical Disk Manager" service was removed, but I didn't) 3. When I try to install .NET Framework 2.0 x64, it freezes just before it completes (Edit: So does my Logitech Setpoint x64 installer) 4. Logitech QuickCam setup.exe never runs. 5. Windows Update also hangs when it's searching for updates. (I did ensure compatibility for Windows Update when i ran nLite) 6. The "Windows Update" shortcut from Start Menu does nothing. Generally it looks like I'm missing some important component that's needed for most installers, but I have no idea which one. Does anyone know or experience the same problem? Also I have a few questions: Q1. Did anyone manage to slipstream WMP11 into x64? Q2. I saw a few references to "Windows Update Agent" that are able to find needed updates offline. How do I use this? Q3. Since Daemon-Tools installs a driver, is this possible to include in the integrated driverlist? I never experienced a faster boot after I made this disc. I really hope I could make this work. Thanks in advance
  23. Acutally it takes 9 gig to install. It dose not install on any scsi devices I bet it does But actually, it's not the problem at all - Like i said, I have plenty of room to install on I just need a fix to make windows put the install temp files somewhere else. This is odd, because all Windows 2000/XP setups just put the install temp files on the drive it actually installs on....... You still have the ability to choose where to install Windows, right????
  24. LOL Do you REALLY think that i'm trying to install vista without HDD space? I've got 600 Gigs of HDD, and PLENTY of free space and partitions! Also, try to read the post The reason my C: drive is only 10 MB, is because I dual boot from several partitions, and like one small partition (called system partition) to contain the boot loader and boot configuration (boot.ini) - The reason why this error is odd, is because my setup is the Microsoft recommended way! Obviously, Vista is not for you. Perhaps you should hang out at Slashdot and use Linux. Obviously, nobody at this forum are willing to anything but flame other users. If you really don't have anything to contribute with, go take a cup of coffee and read the newspaper instead!!!!!! The question is simple and has nothing to do with what's right for me or not: * Can you trick Vista to install it's temp files on a specific partition (maybe using the new xml unattended files) OR * How do I solve the problem that boot-setup restarts my PC after it has loaded the files (can't really find any topic describing that exact problem) ??
