    Drivers

iceangel, Windows install CD already has many generic type drivers to try to be compatible with as much hardware as possible. You adding more drivers only gives the installer more drivers to choose from when detecting your hardware.

    1.35 gone crazy

I can't say for sure, but I'm guessing the only way this could happen is that you somehow managed to include a shortcut into the stuff you wanted to add to your nlite cd.
  3. I know this doesn't fix your problem, I just think that if you need easy remote access, you may want to try something like CrossLoop, especially if you are installing Windows for a friend and want to easily be able to assist them from home. SharedView has some very interesting features and may also be worth checking out. CrossLoop SharedView (Microsoft)

    OOPS! OOBE

Not quite sure what you mean exactly, but concerning oobe, you don't need it. It's just sitting there and wasting space.
  5. Hmm...I have a brand new ASUS board...I don't recall seeing that particular hotfix on my CD... Oh well, got it now anyway!
  6. Google it. It's like the 3rd link down at Hydrogen audio forums. You would have known that had you read the actual forum posts. I posted it myself just a week ago. Yes it can be integrated.

    Bunch of questions

Hey Murty, most of your questions are answered in the nLite user interface. If you have the tips showing at the bottom, you will see info for just about everything in the program. The logoff button thing depends on the visual style you are using.
  8. You did disable simple file sharing and a bunch of other network things. I'm not a huge network geek, but I'd assume that simple file sharing be removed could be your problem. Someone correct me if I'm wrong. How many people on your network? You can use Hamachi for free up to 16 users. It's like having a LAN but you can do it over the net.
  9. nLite is not useless...as a matter of fact, I've never had this happen with the original install cd. Only when using addons. All of my hotfixes integrate with no problems. You should also remember that the original Windows install warns you that the install could possible freeze, and for me, this happened with the nLite version. As I mentioned before, just open your cd tray and close it again and your install with resume. I noticed no glitches in the install doing this. The only problem I have with it is that the term "unattended install" becomes moot.
  10. I integrated mine with no apparent problems.
  11. Maybe it's a newer audio card? My newest board (about a week old) had the same problem when I tried to add my drivers. In my case the problem was just windows and I needed a hotfix. I found the solution here in this thread: http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=95178 Hopefully that fixes the problem. Like I said earlier, I've had no problem integrating sound drivers with older sound chips (Intel or AC'97).
  12. This is installed with IE7 I believe. It's just a text component used for foreign characters. You can turn it off by going to: Control Panel > Regional & Language Options > Languages > Details... > Advanced > Check "Turn off advanced text services" > Ok ctfmon will stop trying to add itself to the startup menu (if you keep blocking it) and will be disabled.
  13. Nilkanth, does the software install when you install the drivers for your card or do you have to install the software separately?
  14. One easy way is to install them and then use Double Driver to backup them up to a folder. Then just load them up in nLite and you should be ready to go. I've noticed on 2 different motherboards that after Windows first loads, a reboot is required to activate the drivers fully. This isn't the case for on board sound chips that are compatible with Windows generic drivers.
  15. I'll request adding cursors that will be in use immediately, just like you can do with visual styles. Also in tweaks, I'd like to be able to set thumbnail size.
  16. In my case, this only occurs when using addons (silent installs). I have no problems at all installing XP with all my hotfixes and the addons removed. I have ~110 hotfixes and the install certainly takes no longer than 30 minutes. Maybe if the nLite could integrate the hotfixes into the original windows cd before removing the chosen components, this problem would go away. I only had a few addons I wanted to use anyway, and really, they don't take that long to install afterwards. In the future I may unpack the original installers and create new ones from scratch. This may solve the problem altogether. Another benefit of this is that I could add any registry entries needed with each installer. But really, this would take more time initially then just installing them, although once the scripts were created then upgrading them in the future would be relatively simple.
  17. Hey hulkviper, created another unattended install using that hotfix and audio drivers are now integrated and working. Thanks a lot!!!
  18. Thanks, I'll give that a try and see what happens. I found it at the hydrogenaudio forums btw.
  19. I've tried doing it that way. It just doesn't integrate. I've tried installing and then backing up the drivers and still nothing. Only the installer after loading windows seems to work.
  20. I've tried integrating SoundMAX driver too, but with no luck. Just doesn't work.
  21. You're not the only one. This has been happening to me....about 5 times now. I thought it had something do to with addons, but you don't seem to have any included in your install. Removing the CD from the drive causes the install to finish nearly immediately and as far as I can tell, this has no detrimental effect on the install. Ok, I did a couple more installs. I've removed all the addons I have but kept every hotfix and all my drivers. There's still a bit of a hang at 13 minutes, although I'm sure that's normal and now I'm just very aware of it. Anyway, after removing the addons, it works now. These are the addons I was using (from winaddons.com or something). 7-Zip [4.42].cab ClipX [1.0.3.8].cab Firefox [2.0.0.3].cab GOM Player [2.1.2.3407].cab ImgBurn [2.3.0.0].cab TaskSwitchXP [2.0.11].cab Unlocker [1.8.5].cab I think the culprit for me could be the Firefox or ImgBurn addon, but instead of testing this I'm just going to install these things after the OS is installed from now on. I also have the ASUS P5B btw...
  22. SubMenuPack links are 404 again. Maybe RapidShare wasn't such a bad idea. Try Shellcity or Donationcoder. You could just attach the files in the forums at Donationcoder.com actually. I'm sure your extensions would be welcome in that community. *edit: Ok, the link is 404 but I went to the root dir and found it there in the index.
  23. eidenk, That registry fix for opening a window in a new window is interesting, but not fool proof. You can't open a folder that's named with certain characters, like "-= Photos =-" for example. I use folders like this all of the time to keep them at the top of the sorting order. Thanks though.
  24. Anyone know where I can get an extension that will let me open a folder in a new window from the context menu?
