1. I don't wanna bother, but the "some numbers" would be helpfull, too.

NTFS.SYS could mean that it's something with the file system, and I would guess it has something to do with the filter driver used to mount images... but not for sure...

Martin

EDIT:

If you've Antivirus Software installed on your Vista, please disable it and than try again.

2. Hello VATERNL!

Before redoing everything... just to make sure, that we're talking about the same overview window: I've no picture present ATM, but my is a little window, were it shows the Apps wich supposed to be installed - listed by their description. In your case it would look like this:

OPERA_9.21_ENG

SMARTFTP_V2.5.1006.4

KLITE_MEGA_C0DEC_PACK_V2.10

WINAMP_V5.35

.

.

.

Once it has finished installing an app it will be checked with a green checkmark in front of it. In background the cmd's are popping up and - depending on the app, that's installed - I see the one or other progress bar windows popping up.

If you don't see this little window, than you should try to redo everything. ;)

Regards,

Martin

3. Hello VATERNL!

The cmd /c command is necessary to get it worked with %Appsroot% environment variable. Without cmd /c it would not install directly from media and this is at least causing the cmd windows, so you can't get rid of these screens - or better I would not know how to get rid of it.

But if you install in auditPass - like you do - you will get the overview list. I guess you don't get such list for the moment, cause you don't use a Description. Please fill out the Description tags (

) and you should get the overview window again - but you'll still have the poping up cmd boxes in background.

Regards,

Martin

4. Hello zedox!

OK... we need to check now, if your registry tweaks are applied at all. So please remove the following lines from your Autounattend.xml:

<RunSynchronousCommand wcm:action="add">
<Order>120</Order>
%WINDIR%\system32\sysprep\sysprep.exe /generalize /quiet /oobe /reboot /unattend:%AppsRoot%\Install\Unattend.xml

Restarting

</RunSynchronousCommand>

Setup will stop in audit mode now and the second unattend.xml will not be executed. So you can check, if the tweaks are applied before copying the profile - you may need to do a reboot after setup has finished.

If the tweaks are not applied, it means that there is something wrong with the path to your .reg file. If they would be applied, than please let me know.

BTW, do you use an original Ultimate version or was it captured before or edited using vlite?

Regards,

Martin

5. @Ruud:

Thanks for the feedback. BTW I would never recommend to replace unattend.xml inside Panther dir/subdir. This can end up very confusing and is not recommended by MS, too.

@zedox:

I've found three things:

no 1:

2007-05-31 11:22:35, Info [setupugc.exe] Finished executing [cmd /c %AppsRoot%\Install\"Software Files"\"7-Zip 4.46 (beta)"\"7-Zip 4.46 (alpha).cmd"] synchronously
2007-05-31 11:22:35, Info [setupugc.exe] Process returned with exit code 0x1

Seems to me that this cmd is not executed - might be caused by the brackets.

no 2:

2007-05-31 11:35:13, Info [msoobe.exe] No display mode found that matches criteria

Your system seems to have problems, if you don't set the refresh rate. So please set the refresh rate. BTW my system is comming up with the same error if I set the refresh rate inside xml file. So I'm forced not to set the refresh rate. :wacko:

But both errors should not cause your main problem.

no 3:

This section differs from my result. It follows the application installation section. I don't have the Flush here. My system just reboots and than goes on executing specialize pass of unattend.xml. But your specialize pass is not executed - so CopyProfile can't run - and system boots right to oobe pass.

I suspect one of your installation cmds causing a delay which is causing the flush. I could imagine that one of your cmds is still running while setup is trying to execute sysprep.exe /generalize. Could you please verfiy that.

Regards,

Martin

EDIT:

The Flush could be caused by some hardware, which is not installed during setup, too. Do you may use some hardware, which Vista does not detect/install the drivers for? Than remove it for test or if you can't remove install the drivers during setup.

If this still does not help out you should recreate both xml files "manually" using WSIM.

6. Hello zedox!

I copied the code exactly how you laid it out, all I changed was the prod key and passwords.

Sorry, but your log is telling something different :whistle: :

2007-05-29 16:23:34, Info [setupugc.exe] Found run command in registry: path = [%WINDIR%\system32\sysprep\sysprep.exe /quiet /oobe /reboot]
2007-05-29 16:23:34, Info [setupugc.exe] Found RunSynchronous command: [%WINDIR%\system32\sysprep\sysprep.exe /quiet /oobe /reboot]

If you would have copied it exactly the lines would look like this:

2007-05-29 16:23:34, Info [setupugc.exe] Found run command in registry: path = [%WINDIR%\system32\sysprep\sysprep.exe /generalize /quiet /oobe /reboot /unattend:%AppsRoot%\Install\Unattend.xml]
2007-05-29 16:23:34, Info [setupugc.exe] Found RunSynchronous command: [%WINDIR%\system32\sysprep\sysprep.exe /generalize /quiet /oobe /reboot /unattend:%AppsRoot%\Install\Unattend.xml]

It's not executing generalization and so it's not copying the profile. There is an other thing showing, that "my" xml files are not used: I've changed your Timezone setting to Greenwich Standard Time, cause your setting was wrong here, too. Now it's using the wrong setting again:

2007-05-29 16:27:55, Warning [Shell Unattend] TimeZone: Unknown time zone '(GMT) Greenwich Mean Time : Dublin, Edinburgh, Lisbon, London'

Do you wipe your disk during setup? If not please wipe it, cause it could use a xml file from an earlier setup run in worst case. Something is messed up with your xml files for the moment, please check again.

Regards,

Martin

7. Hello zedox!

For the moment you have an folder called Install, which does contain subfolders with apps installation files, so your structure looks like this:

Removable Media:
|
|__ Install
|
|___ Registry Tweaks
|
|___ Software Files
| |
| |___ 7-Zip 4.45 (beta)
| |
| |___ Adboe Flash Player
| |
| |
| etc.
|
|___ Unattend.xml

You can put it to an other location, too, certainly. Than you have to adapt the following line inside Autounattend.xml to your needs:

<RunSynchronousCommand wcm:action="add">
<Order>120</Order>
%WINDIR%\system32\sysprep\sysprep.exe /generalize /quiet /oobe /reboot /unattend:%AppsRoot%\Install\Unattend.xml

Restarting

</RunSynchronousCommand>

Just change /unattend:%AppsRoot%\Install\Unattend.xml to what ever you need.

Regards,

Martin

8. Hello zedox!

Did a test install with your Autounattend.xml and it was not working for me, too. Have not figured out why yet but I've a workaround I was using before:

You have to use two answer files. The first answer file will process evrything till auditUser pass. Using sysprep generaliz a second xml is called, which will do the rest:

Autounattend.xml:
