  1. Mainly installation of software, modification of GUI etc, addition of minor registry tweaks. But still changing the SOE none the less. Maybe some sort of CRC or something. Mmmm not sure.
  2. Hi Guys, Im trying to add a unique indentifier to a Windows XP SOE. The issue im having is that once an SOE is sent out for distribution our state support staff modify it. Now when we report on it using SMS, they all report as the original SOE. What i want to do is have a unique ID that if the SOE is tampered with and resaved, then SMS will report that it is non standard. Have thought about registry entries, but if they save the image without touching the registry entry it will report as the correct SOE. Any ideas?
  3. Its not that dont want to make an effort in learning.. just is difficult to finalise doing a hundred other things... i have made these scripts before.. just dont have time to do it in this instance..
  4. Hi Guys, I knowthis is gonna come across as lame! But due to time limitations am finding it extremely hard to dedicate time to do this. I want a hand in doing an unattended script, install a few apps, and use different machine types.. around 5 differerent models.. machine must then be added to the domain and thats about it.. Can give you more of a scope of what needs to be done via PM.. Thanks in advance guys.. you dont know how much this is appreciated Thanks
  5. Hi Guys, Wanted to know if there is a tool or script that can be used to create an unattended cd.. unfortunately dont really want to follow 1000 steps to get one working.. Have seen a few on this site but are quite outdated.. is there any new scripts tools or even a basic iso that can be used for this purpose? Thanks in advance.. the easier to use the better!
  6. Doesnt though most visual settings get stored in the user's profile ie ntuser.dat Thanks for the above info..
  7. Hi Guys, In the process of creating a full unattend for our XP SOE. Have a few questions and hope you can help. Question 1. Within the unattend i want to be able to remove certain components within Windows during the install such as Windows Messenger, MSN Explorer, Outlook express etc. I understand that you can put these under [components] within the winnt.sif but i am wondering is their any other means to remove them if already installed via scripting? Question 2. Also the SOE contains certain things like local group policy settings, customisation to the look and feel, and many different menu items and changes to the way the system operates such as log file settings, page file size etc. I believe some of this is stored in the ntuser.dat but is all stored here? Do i need to run a utility like regsnap or advanced registry tracer to make these modifications and capture them to reg files, then run them after the unattend has completed? Question 3. What is the best method to copying the default user profile I have created to be the default profile within the unattend install? Should I just add the Documents and Settings folder to the $OEM$ directory to do so? Question 4. We have several models of PC's and hardware builds, do you know of any limitations to the amount of files/folders you can have under the $OEM$ drivers directory? and does the OEMPNP path search only the top level directory or go down to others within the drivers directory ie different model types of hardware? Thanks so much for your help. It is greatly appreciated.
