  1. http://www.zdnet.com/blog/open-source/five-reasons-why-windows-8-will-be-dead-on-arrival/10275
  2. try to stop tools like Rainmeter and RocketDock.exe. Does this make a difference? Do you also have the issue if you remove 1 460GTX and only use 1 card (no SLI)?
  3. stay at .net and compile against Mono. btw here is the complete link to the interview I quoted earlier: http://gizmodo.com/5882797 This designer is disrespectful and doesn't accept other opinions, only his. this is a pure id***. I can't wait to see the get the Ubuntu 12.04 final.
  4. still the same. IRQ is still shared with your GPUs and Intel USB controller. Disable the Intel USB controller in the device manager if you use the USB3.0 ones. Does this make a difference?
  5. do you mean the scroll bug? This is fixed in the Windows 8 Beta/Consumer Preview: http://blogs.msdn.com/b/b8/archive/2012/01/30/acting-on-file-management-feedback.aspx
  6. yes because you have the full admin token all the time. It makes no difference.
  7. which motherboard do you use? I can't see this from the trace. Also which USB devices do you use? Try to plug them into a different port (not the one which shares the IRQ).
  8. still the nvidia driver. Does it also happen if you remove 1 of the 2 cards? @doveman I see you also read the topic. Is your issue fixed with disabling the effects?
  9. make a trace when you have the 70% CPU usage again and sahr the new trace. I look at it.
  10. 1700$? The page say 399$. This is a low spec notebook with a low-end CPU (only 1GHz) so the poor score of 2.8 is ok.
  11. in this case you have evrytime admin rights and the "Run as admin" is useless. And all normal people have it turned on to the highest level. read my UAC for Dummy Guide here in the Tweaks-forum
  12. If I read this antisocial nonsense I can cry:
  13. boot is ok. You can improve the performance by using AHCI, not IDE/ATAPI mode: IDE\DiskOCZ-NOCTI Also look in the trace if MSE causes high CPU or Disk IO usage. Postboot is with 18s very long, so check if you really need all tool at startup.
  14. ok, test it and tell me please if the driver rollback fixed it or not.
  15. the nvlddmkm.sys causes the high CPU usage. it is version 8.17.12.9551 which should be the latest beta driver version. So go back to the latest WHQL driver 285.58 and look if this fixes it. I can also see that it shares the IRQ with the USB controller. So try to put your NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460 into a different PCI-E slot which doesn't share IRQ with other devices.
  16. no, idle can be ignored. this is the CPU driver which sends a halt signal to the CPU to reduce cpu power consumption. if you're unsure, upload your trace so that I can look at it.
  17. setup.exe always generates the UAC elevation prompt, this is hardcoded. So it makes no difference
  18. According to this page: http://us.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/model/LX.RD502.030 it has 3GB RAM, so the 64Bit is not needed and of course 32Bit uses all cores.
  19. ok, nice to see that you found the cause.
  20. the link doesn't work. It says file is deleted.
  21. the Beta/Consumer Preview is still this ugly Metro/Aero Mix: Start-Orb is replaced by this useless small "preview" of th startscreen: Startscreen is still ugly: and you can only select from a limited amount of background pictures Windows is really dead
  22. You must install the Windows Performance Toolkit first. Check the first post for the link to the extra topic.
  23. Please use Process monitor, active the boot loggging inside ProcMon and next run the boot trace command. After the restart, start ProcMon agaian and save the log as PML. Please upload the new trace + ProcMon log.
  24. update the driver and enable all offload options in the driver.

vLite can be the cause of issues if you removed too much. Look in the Last session.ini if you removed hardware drivers which are needed to recognize USB devices.
