Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. It's worked a couple of times in VMware, so it's got to be something else.

What I'm saying is that I am creating a standalone CD for just upgrading an XP SP1 machine to SP2 with the latest critical patches, nothing more. There is software that is currently installed and I don't want to disturb that. I also do not know what other personal data is on those Home User computers, so I definitely don't want to delete any of that. I already have discs with SP2 slipstreamed into them from the Volume Licensing program that we have here.

Interesting. I've got a problem that is somewhat related to having just the Administrator account. For some reason, if you have just the Administrator account with a password, it won't automatically login for me. http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=54047 If I can somehow exploit the OOBEINFO.INI file and create just a "local" account without a password, would this work?

Actually, I think that I got it. I used WinRAR to extract the i386 folder in the SP2 file for IT Professionals and just worked with it from there. Like I said, there's an update.exe and update.msi file in the i386\update folder. From there, a simple %CDROM%\i386\update\update.msi /quiet /noreboot should do what I want. I haven't tested this yet as it takes time to install a SP1 XP installation in VMware (not at work right now). After that's done, a copied batch file to the current user's startup folder will do the rest after a restart. It'll also include a couple of port openings that I need for Funk Software's Proxy Host.

Thanks. Since you seem to know what is wrong, can you tell me how my winnt.sif file is different than what is shown in the guide?
-
Right, but what I'm actually trying to do is make a CD with SP2 and all the hotfixes and nothing else. This CD is going out to users with computers in a remote location that already have XP SP1 installed. EDIT: I got it. I just used the regular Windows Installer switches with the update.msi package in the extracted i386\update folder.

I have no idea why I can't find this. Maybe I'm just tired at the moment. I'm looking for the command line switches for XP SP2. Basically I'm just trying to automate the installing of SP2 and post-SP2 hotfixes onto a CD. I can do that with a batch file without any problems. I just can't find the switches for the SP2 installer. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Yes. Try here: http://unattended.msfn.org/advanced/cosmet...rd/intronew.htm

My unattended CD does everything that I want it to except for auto logging into the computer after the GUI setup phase. At first I thought that it was because of a reboot during the setup which decreased the auto login count by 1, so I increased the number to 2 and it still didn't work. Problem for integrated the program power gold
Asin replied to Tico Torres's topic in Application Installs
The translation is relatively good, somewhere in the 90% range, so don't worry about it. What kind of installer does Power Gold come in? -

Freezing After XP Pro SP2 Install
Asin replied to LiVECrys's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
Don't bump threads after only a few hours, it more so annoying than helpful. It'll probably cause people to ignore this thread entirely since most people that posted last in their own threads are usually just saying "thank you" of the sorts. What exactly happens when you try to integrate your hotfixes? Are you sure that your drivers are correct for your system? A copy of your winnt.sif file would also be helpful. -
You can create a default theme by making a .theme file using the Save As button in the Themes tab of Display Properties. Copy this file to your $OEM$\$$\Resources\Themes folder on your CD. If you have a wallpaper that isn't part of the Windows XP standard, collection, then copy it to the same folder as the .theme file. Then use the [shell] section of winnt.sif and the CustomDefaultThemeFile = PATH property. http://unattended.msfn.org/global/reference.htm#shell
-
What's the name of your command file? This thread references two files: tweaks.cmd and finaltweaks.cmd. The former of which shows up in your winnt.sif file. Gee, as supertoast already mentioned, those are public serial numbers released by Microsoft for testing purposes.

Are you installing through Windows or booting up from a CD?
-
You can push it out using a login script and then run it silently.
-
When you install Windows, there are a number of configuration dialogs that popup including time, regional, and network settings. An Unattended Installation of Windows allows you to skip all that while at the same time providing the correct settings (answers) for your needs. It's basically just a way of allowing someone to install Windows without requiring user interaction.

Network Setup And User Account Screens
Asin replied to Asin's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
Well, the drivers install correctly so I'm not really complaining about that. I've double-checked my [WindowsFirewall] properties and they all match up. I even put in the stuff that doesn't say whether or not it is optional just in case. For example, Addresses in WindowsFirewall.Proxy. EDIT: The help reference file on Unattended.txt says that the length of OemPnPDriversPath cannot exceed 4096 characters. -
I'm having trouble getting past the section with the animated blue circle that has the question mark on it. It's where you're supposed to click on Next. It's also where you set your network settings and user accounts. I have a OOBEINFO.INI file in $OEM$\$$\system32\OOBE and in $OEM$\$$\system32 just in case. It's setup to create a "temp" user. Otherwise, my Windows Firewall Settings don't show up either. Any help is greatly appreciated. My winnt.sif file is below: [Data] AutomaticUpdates = 1 AutoPartition = 1 MsDosInitiated = "0" UnattendedInstall = "Yes" [Unattended] AutoActivate = Yes UnattendMode = FullUnattended OemSkipEula = Yes OemPreinstall = No TargetPath = \WINDOWS OemPnPDriversPath = "DRIVERS\000_CHIPSET_D510;DRIVERS\000_CHIPSET_D510\xp;DRIVERS\000_CHIPSET_DESKPRO\XP;DRIVERS\001_CHIP_DESKPRO;DRIVERS\010_NETWORK_D510;DRIVERS\011_NETWORK_DESKPRO;DRIVERS\020_VIDEO_D510;DRIVERS\020_VIDEO_D510\Win2000;DRIVERS\021_VIDEO_DESKPRO;DRIVERS\021_VIDEO_DESKPRO\Win2000;DRIVERS\030_AUDIO_D510;DRIVERS\030_AUDIO_D510\SMAXWDM\W2K_XP;DRIVERS\031_AUDIO_DESKPRO;DRIVERS\031_AUDIO_DESKPRO\SMAXWDM\W2K;DRIVERS\040_MODEM_D510" DriverSigningPolicy = Ignore [GuiUnattended] AdminPassword = xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx EncryptedAdminPassword = Yes AutoLogon = Yes AutoLogonCount = 1 OEMSkipRegional = 1 TimeZone = 35 OemSkipWelcome = 1 [UserData] ProductKey = xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx FullName = "xxxxx" OrgName = "xxxxx" ComputerName = CHANGE-NAME-PLS [Display] BitsPerPel = 32 Xresolution = 1024 YResolution = 768 Vrefresh = 70 [TapiLocation] CountryCode = 107 Dialing = Tone AreaCode = 905 LongDistanceAccess = "9" [RegionalSettings] LanguageGroup = 1 SystemLocale = 00001009 UserLocale = 00000409 InputLocale = 0409:00000409 [Branding] BrandIEUsingUnattended = Yes [url="http://%20%20%20%20Home_Page%20=%20%5burl=http://www.domain.com/%5dhttp://www.domain.com/"] Home_Page = [url=http://www.domain.com/]http://www.domain.com/[/url] [Proxy] Proxy_Enable = 0 Use_Same_Proxy = 1 [GuiRunOnce] Command0 = "regedit /S C:\PreventStartScan.reg" [Identification] JoinDomain = xxx [Networking] InstallDefaultComponents = Yes [WindowsFirewall] Profies = WindowsFirewall.Standard LogFile = "%WINDIR%\pfirewall.log" LogSize = 4096 LogDroppedPackets = 1 LogConnections = 1 [WindowsFirewall.Standard] Mode = 1 Exceptions = 1 Notifications = 1 PortOpenings = WindowsFirewall.Proxy [WindowsFirewall.Proxy] Protocol = 18 Port = 1505 Name = "Proxy (TCP 1505/UDP 1505)" Mode = 1 Scope = 0 Addresses = 0.0.0.0

Try adding AutoLogon=Yes and AutoLogonCount=1 like I said. Also try quotes around your GuiRunOnce command.

order of Windos hotfix's in batch file
Asin replied to slinger's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
I tend to go by Knowledge Base numbers or sometimes from the bottom up of whatever shows up on Windows Update. From what I can tell, Windows Update updates your system with those patches in a random order. So it shouldn't matter what order you do them in. -
Are the installation files copied onto the hard drive from the $OEM$ folder or something? You don't have any commands running after the installation process using [GuiRunOnce] or [RunOnceEx] tags.
-
Actually, we just have the software and the serials for Office 2003 Suites which includes Standard and Professional. I don't quite know what you mean by seats though. I probably should just leave these two alone since the transform files are most likely different anyways.

http://inetexplorer.mvps.org/archive/wuc.htm This ^^ says that the catalog files aren't installing. I don't know if that helps.

I've already read through most of the website. And all of it in terms of Office and Simple Unattended and Device Drivers. Maybe I'm moving too quickly too fast considering I only started doing this last week. To be honest, I don't see anything that would help other than the Office shrinking programs which I will look into later once I am successful in reducing two Administrative Installation Points to one.
