  1. Ponch, no need to correct, I confirm that! If you have corporate windows, you can select it. If not, keep it, otherwise you wont be able to use windows after 30 days!
  2. sp000n, you only need directory I386 if you removed the others. I386 is the main setup directory. Did you try to boot with the CD?

  5. there are many desktop.ini files in C: desktop.ini, a config file for each folder the desktop.ini file is in Uncheck "Show system files" in Folder options
  6. Have you maybe disabled Plug and Play service?
  7. nvidia driver setup does not find any nvidia video card. When your run virtually, it does not copy your graphic card. It's not installing coz on the virtual machine it's a general video card.
  8. Stop makin CD's Try VirtualBox
  9. albator, sometimes 1 letter makes a big difference, glad it didn't this time thing, you meant think
  10. Select everything, make a last session file with everything selected, then you will always know the order. If the order matters, only nuhi can answer that
  11. Very nice, nLite 3.0 "Where to download"
  12. rado354, maybe it's time for MPlayer or the other MPlayer shell MPUI ? Highly recommended
  13. Even apart from it being illegal, it's still not a good idea. The media/ISO could be riddled with malware. If you have a way that works, stick with it I did not mean usuall easy p2p stuff that is filled with crap The scene sources don't have malware Then it would probably get nuked! There is always a clean source somewhere I admit I use it, what key you use is optional, I use my own. Better than usin my SP1a version! Can always order the disc from MS, but that takes days, compared to a few minutes on the net!
  14. No need, here's the Windows Services I am removing and you're not removing: COM+ DNS Client Internet Authentication (IAS) Network Location Awareness (NLA) Network Provisioning Protected Storage Shell Services System Event Notification (SENS) Uninterruptible Power Supply Universal Plug and Play Device Host Windows Management Instrumentation Windows Time Its got to be something to do with one of those in red? I wonder if I could try a full install of XP (in VMware) and try disabling those ones in red, see if it affects the speeds? BTW how are you guys saving an image like that with a list of removed stuff? nLite has some option somewhere to do that?! With DNS Client disabled µTorrent works for me. Internet Authentication (IAS) Network Location Awareness (NLA) Network Provisioning Protected Storage System Event Notification (SENS) Uninterruptible Power Supply Windows Time these I have removed before on my old nLited installs. µTorrent has always worked for me. I have never removed Universal Plug and Play Device Host, COM+ and Windows Management Instrumentation, can be that...... the image I made with FastStone Capture my settings: Capture mode, Capture scrolling window.
  15. This is what I remove, final size about 130MB and µTorrent works perfectly Attach your Last session file
  16. I did not mean warez. Thought he maybe has some connections ... Better than trying to remove SP2, we all know that means trouble. I doubt it's illegal for anyone to use their on key if they download right clean version. Afterall it's the license not the CD that you buy! Kelsenellenelvian or any other mod, delete my double post Please
  17. Risky I wouldn't do that . . . You probably can download SP1 and use your own key on it. Just make sure you know if you have Corporate/VLK, Retail or OEM. I'm guessing you have already tried updating the drivers?
  18. If you register on http://www.doitrightconsulting.net/forum/ you will find it in topic http://www.doitrightconsulting.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=132
  19. Hard to tell exactly which. Next time add it to keep box. I upped it for you and anyone else that need it. Download link http://www.keepmyfile.com/download/fe20e41451020 You are right, just copy it to C:\WINDOWS\system32
  20. There is no need to remove SP2. A service pack is a pack of updates. SP2 is problematic only if you update from SP1 to SP2 on your already installed windows. Installing a clean SP2 source will probably remove all issues you have. Give nLite chance and remove things you do not need. Be more specific, what isn't workin for you in SP2? See this pic, example This is what I remove, final size about 130MB and it works perfectly
  21. hulkviper

    Delete programs

Yes you can remove all 3 (Including Security Center) and much more! See this pic, example This is what I remove, final size about 130MB and it works flawless

  23. Diskeeper's advantage over every other defragmentation tool is that it is completely automatic out of the box (meaning it does not require post-install configuration to do so) and only does it when your computer has idle resources available to fulfill the task. There's actually a portable and open-source defragmenter tool called JKDefrag v3.7 that I would use myself if it supported the same automatic and resource friendly method that Diskeeper did. The main reason for recommending DK (and a trial version as no one should jump the gun and buy something based on a few recommendations and they shouldn't have to pay and thus be urged to crack it due to a cost) is because it just works, just like that. You don't have to be 1337 to use it. If you like freeware that much (and I do too), then use a free one. Jeremy you are right that it's easier, but with Diskeeper you can't totally re-arange all the files in alphabetcial order. This is good sometimes. because having all the files only defragmented isn't enough. UltimateDefrag also can put all directories at the end of the files/close to MFT area. This is good for the drive and for faster windows explorer browsing. Having all files sorted in alphabetical order is good, then the drive read head doesn't move around more than needed. This isn't recommended to use everyday, 1 time a week is enough. It's also not recommended if your system partition is very large, takes time .... Vopt is good for everyday use, because it's fast and effective.
